It looks like the New York Giants actually had a reason to take QB Daniel Jones with the 6th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Giants G.M. Dave Gettleman is not only defending the decision, but gave a reason as to why he took him so early instead of waiting until their 17th pick.
“I know for a fact there were two teams who would have taken [Jones] before 17 … It wasn’t easy for me to pass up Josh Allen. It was very very difficult. But I think that much of Daniel Jones and his future as an NFL QB,” Gettleman said, via Tom Rock of Newsday.
Those teams teams are reportedly the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins.
There’s no way of knowing if those two teams would’ve actually pulled the trigger on Jones, but as it turns out, the Redskins would go on to take Dwayne Haskins and the Broncos would draft Drew Lock.
