The Pittsburgh Steelers opened training camp Thursday, and George Pickens has already given the media something bad to talk about.
There was reportedly a brief, very heated exchange between George Pickens and new wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni.
Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette wrote, “New receivers coach Zach Azzanni and George Pickens got into a heated exchange late in practice when Azzanni didn’t like the way Pickens executed his assignment.”
Continuing: “Pickens didn’t take kindly to Azzanni’s words. Some of the other receivers approached Pickens after the exchange, but Pickens was visibly upset.”
The Steelers dealt with similar issues within the WR corps last year and over the past decade or so.
Despite the dust-up with the coach, Fittipaldo concluded that “There is hope Pickens can reach his full potential under the new offensive staff,” while adding the dynamic wide receiver is going to be coached much differently than he was in his first two NFL seasons when Frisman Jackson was the receivers coach.

This is far from the first time Pickens has shown to have diva-like qualities, as he made it known several times how frustrated and visibly irritated he was on the field.
To be fair, the quarterback play in Pittsburgh has been atrocious since the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.
With His Attitude In Check, George Pickens Has Chance To Have Breakout Season
George Pickens is so talented that he can put up numbers with subpar quarterbacks.
For the 2024 season, he could have his best year yet, with Russell Wilson throwing him the ball and Justin Fields likely being the second in command should something go wrong.
Last season, Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens caught 63 passes for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns.
Just imagine what he could possibly do in 2024.
