Can you imagine somebody like Skip Bayless banging a gavel multiple times a day and debating sports at the same time?
Fox Sports may make that happen after recently agreeing to a new deal with Skip on 4-year, $32 million extension.
Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reports that “Fox Sports has had discussions internally about creating a faux courtroom show starring the 69-year-old Bayless.”
Bayless would preside as judge while two sides argue over various sports debates before he ultimately makes his ruling. This is likely one of several ideas being talked about in order to give Bayless his own solo show in addition to FS1’s “Skip & Shannon: Undisputed” debate show.
McCarthy noted that giving Bayless his own show would not only “justify” his salary, but also allow him to keep pace with his friend and former TV partner, Stephen A. Smith.
A source told McCarthy that “this is about Skip trying to keep up with Stephen A. He still thinks of himself as the Debate King – but their competition isn’t even a competition anymore.”
