With Troy Aikman reportedly close to joining ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcasting booth, FOX might be looking for his replacement in the form of another former quarterback.
The New York Post‘s Andrew Marchand updated his report Monday night with some names FOX is considering, and Drew Brees is among them.
“[FOX] will consider its No. 2 analyst Greg Olsen, [Sean] McVay, Sean Payton and, in a twist, could try to trade for NBC’s Drew Brees, according to sources,” Marchand wrote.
Amazon is also considering the former New Orleans Saints legend for its new Thursday Night Football deal starting this year.
Also in the fold is broadcasting legend Al Michaels, who Marchand noted is expected to be the lead play-by-play announcer for Amazon after his contract with NBC expired.
The same report suggested ESPN may look to convince Joe Buck to leave Fox.
