The Detroit Lions ended their disappointing 2018 campaign with a win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, albeit without facing Aaron Rodgers on the other side.
The team likely felt they needed no changes, so they didn’t do anything on Black Monday as many teams said goodbye to several coaches on their staff. On Tuesday, however, the Lions made a decision to part ways with offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.
Via PFT:
“Cooter took over as the offensive coordinator in Detroit in 2015 and helped the team to back-to-back 9-7 seasons in 2016 and 2017. Things did not go well for the offense or the team under new head coach Matt Patricia in 2018, however, and Cooter sounded resigned to the fact that he’d be headed elsewhere in 2019.”
The Lions might not want his services any longer but there are several teams around the league that are interested in signing Cooter for the foreseeable future.
