If frustration is growing inside the Philadelphia Eagles’ locker room, it’s certainly understandable.
The defending NFC champions have lost three games in a row and are unlikely to finish as the conference’s top seed again. But according to a new report, locker room morale wasn’t exactly high even during the Eagles’ scorching start.
According to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles were feeling “miserable” even when they were 10-1.
“The most miserable 10-1 team,” a source told McLane. “Imagine now.”
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made headlines after Monday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks when he stated that the club simply wasn’t “committed enough.” Philly allowed backup quarterback Drew Lock to orchestrate a surgical late game-winning drive that culminated with a touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the final minute.

The Eagles lost just three regular season games last year, but they have already surpassed that total with three games to go. Not only are the Eagles unlikely to catch the San Francisco 49ers (11-3) for the NFC’s top seed, but Philly might even have to enter the postseason as a wild card team.
Nick Sirianni’s group enters Sunday in a tie with the Dallas Cowboys for the top spot in the NFC East. Incredibly, the division hasn’t seen a repeat winner since 2004, when the Eagles successfully defended the NFC East crown.
For now, the Eagles can only focus on the task at hand: Getting by the New York Giants on Monday night’s home game.
