Many thought that we would be finding out exactly how long Deshaun Watson would be suspended for any day now. However, based on the latest report, it sounds more like it’ll be any week now.
According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the three-day hearing for the Cleveland Browns quarterback has come to an end. Disciplinary Officer Sue L. Robinson has since requested post-trial briefs from both sides (Watson and the NFL), with a due date set for July 11.
It’s very likely that both sides will take their time, which means Robinson likely won’t receive the briefs until around or on the actual due date. And you’d have to think she’ll need at least a few days to go over them.
Add it all up, and we likely won’t have a definitive answer regarding Watson’s suspension until mid-July, at the earliest.
This leaves the Browns is an awfully precarious position, as they are left trying to figure out what to do at the quarterback position, without really knowing how long they’ll need to manage without their starter to begin the season…if he even plays at all in 2022.
If he doesn’t suit up this season, the Browns will have quite the decision on their hands. Although, according to reports, it appears as though they’ve already made it.
