Concern is reportedly growing within the Philadelphia Eagles organization regarding superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The defending NFC Champions jumped out to a 10-1 start and looked poised to finish as the NFC’s top seed again. But the Eagles have lost three straight games, with two of those losses coming by 20 or more points.
Philly looked poised to end its losing skid against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, only for Drew Lock to throw a late game-winning touchdown to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. After the game, Hurts made headlines by stating that the team wasn’t “committed enough.”
And now, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer (h/t Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report), reports that “internal concern” is growing on last year’s MVP runner-up:
“Clearly, Hurts has so many of the intangibles to be an elite quarterback: passing and running abilities, a genuine work ethic, and a willingness to do everything it takes to be the best. But team sources said the Eagles want their franchise quarterback to open himself up a little more in the locker room. Players like and respect Hurts. The team doesn’t have to worry about him off the field. The Eagles want him to be authentic to himself, but they also need him to not isolate himself as much when a more outward leadership style is necessary, especially when the going gets tough.”

The Eagles went 14-3 last season but have already surpassed their 2022 loss total. The concerning about is how much the Eagles have regressed across the board, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
The 2022 unit allowed just 20.2 points per game (the eighth-best mark in the league), and the fierce front seven racked up 70 sacks. However, Philly currently ranks 26th in scoring D (24.4 points allowed per game), and the D has just 39 sacks on the year.
Philadelphia remains tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the top record in the NFC East. The Eagles will try to get back on track when they host the archrival New York Giants on Christmas Day.
