There’s a new chapter in the never-ending New York Jets soap opera.
Whether it’s owner Woody Johnson taking shots at quarterback Zach Wilson or Aaron Rodgers’ habit of spreading baseless conspiracy theories, the New York Jets keep finding ways to make peculiar comments away from the football field.
On a new episode of the “Around the NFL” podcast with Dan Hanzus, Marc Sessler and Colleen Wolfe, the latter reported that Johnson and Jets head coach Robert Saleh engaged in a “heated” discussion at the NFL owners meetings.
“At the owners meetings, there was a very heated conversation between Woody and Robert Saleh to the point where it was a little awkward…It could have been about anything.”
Wolfe emphasized that it wasn’t an “argument”, but rather an intense discussion. Wolfe was not told what the exact conversation was about, emphasizing that it was only those two engaging in the discussion.
The New York Jets entered last season with sky-high expectations after acquiring the four-time league MVP in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers. The excitement quickly went away, however, when Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear just minutes into his New York debut.

The Jets stayed competitive thanks to a stingy defense and the efforts of wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall.
But they were ultimately undone by a woeful quarterback room that used three QBS after Rodgers’ injury in Wilson, Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian. Those three quarterback combined for 11 touchdowns against 15 interceptions as they limped to a 7-10 finish.
Expectations Remain High For The New York Jets
With Rodgers expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 NFL season, expectations are once again awfully high for the New York Jets.
The team has brought in Tyron Smith, John Simpson and Morgan Moses to fix up the offensive line, and they added ex-Los Angeles Chargers star wideout Mike Williams to give Rodgers another weapon.
If these changes aren’t enough for the Jets to be a playoff team in 2024, then sweeping changes will be coming to the organization.
