With everyone keeping their ear to the ground regarding all the Deshaun Watson talk, there is one man who’s been on top of most of the breaking news. That would be SportsTalkATL Jake on Twitter.
Jake is admittedly not an NFL insider, but he’s been adamant about his connection within the Falcons organization. And so far, he’s been out in front of every piece of Deshaun Watson news that’s been “broken” by the top insiders around the league throughout the last few days.
Yesterday, Jake broke his biggest news when he declared that Deshaun Watson would be traded to the Atlanta Falcons. According to him, a reliable source who’s deep within the negotiations has confirmed the move.
Jake faced plenty of backlash over his breaking news. Many called him out, including NFL insider Benjamin Allbright.
Today, Jake hoped on a Twitter space to discuss the trade and his sources, and during that talk he revealed some interesting things. For starters, he claimed that he had talked privately with Allbright later one. And he was able to prove himself to be a reputable source thanks to his knowledge of a canceled meeting between the Saints and Watson — which apparently no one was supposed to know about.

Jake then went on to say during the Twitter Space chat that the Watson-to-Falcons deal was set to be announced by Monday (sorry, we don’t have the audio, but can 100 percent confirm Jake said this). And the only thing really stalling the efforts was the Falcons’ need to trade Matt Ryan in order to free up the necessary cap space before making the Watson trade official.
Matt Ryan was originally supposed to be paid a roster bonus by the Falcons today, both sides have agreed to move that date to Tuesday, in order to give Atlanta enough time to find a new home for their soon-to-be-former franchise quarterback.
So far, everything has been unfolding as Jake has said it would. If it continues that way, don’t expect to hear anything official until Monday…when Watson will be introduced as the new quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons.
