The NFL has yet to complete its investigation into Deshaun Watson, who settled 20 of 24 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault or sexual misconduct.
Recent discussions over the length of the suspension that will be issued to the Cleveland Browns quarterback for violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy “fell apart,” according to CBS Sports HQ’s Josina Anderson.
Anderson reported the NFL, NFL Players Association and advisors for Watson were unable to reach an agreement over how many games he would be suspended.
Watson missed the entire 2021 season after he not only demanded a trade but numerous sexual assault and misconduct allegations would soon pop up. The Texans’ sitting him last season made it an easier decision for the NFL to not step in and possibly put him on the commissioner’s list.
The league has yet to render a final judgment after launching its own investigation into the allegations.
Last month, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was “nearing the end” of its inquiry, but that was before the New York Times would drop a damning report on new allegations against Watson.
