It’s been a while since New York Giants fans had something to get excited about, but this latest bit of news should help move the needle in the Big Apple.
According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz of “The Schultz Report,” Brian Flores is a legitimate candidate to land the head coaching job in New York, as Giants owner John Mara is a fan of the former member of the Dolphins and Patriots. He adds that Mara “respects and likes Flores,” who is a Brooklyn native.
Flores is also believed to have the Giants high on his list of possible landing spots, as it’s one franchise that could offer him the option to acquire Houston Texans starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Giants have two first round picks in the upcoming draft, along with a glaring need for a new quarterback. If Flores is brought it, it’s expected that he’ll want to pursue Watson, who he’s reportedly been in contact with daily as of late.
Adding Watson and Flores would immediately turn the Giants from a laughing stock to a legit contender in the NFC East. Their offensive line needs some work, but you’d have to think Watson would make the most of a skill position group that includes the likes of Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney and Sterling Shepard.
