Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders has emerged as the new betting favorite to be the next HC for a big-market NFL team.
Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes have been among college football’s biggest surprises in 2024, entering this week as the No. 18 ranked team with a 7-2 record. Since he began his tenure in Boulder a year ago, Sanders has been widely mentioned as a potential head coach target for NFL teams down the line.
Sanders hasn’t at all indicated that he’s looking at a jump to the NFL coaching ranks. But ‘Prime Time’ has suddenly emerged as the new betting favorite to take over as the HC of a struggling NFC team.
According to the latest betting odds at Bovada, Deion Sanders is the betting favorite to replace Mike McCarthy as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. Interestingly, the former Cowboys All-Pro cornerback has “even” odds.
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has the second-best odds at +375, followed by Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson (+600) and the legendary Bill Belichick (+700).

The 57-year-old Sanders played for Jerry Jones’ Cowboys from 1995 to ’99, leading the franchise to a Super Bowl championship in his first season with the organization. A year earlier, Sanders won his first Super Bowl with the star-studded San Francisco 49ers.
Jerry Jones May Actually Target Deion Sanders For HC Position
Coach Prime may be happy in Boulder right now, but remember that his son Shedeur is likely to declare for the NFL Draft in 2025. So Sanders’ desire to stay in Colorado may wane if Shedeur leaves, and if a team like the Cowboys were to submit a contract offer that he couldn’t refuse.
Jerry Jones cares more about building the Cowboys brand than winning a Super Bowl. So it’d be very Jones like to hire a marquee name like Sanders as his head coach.
