On Wednesday, it was announced that recently released quarterback Daniel Jones would be signing with the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year deal.
The contract is worth $375,000 and places him on the Viking’s practice squad, making him the fourth option behind Sam Darnold, Nick Mullens, and Brett Rypien, who are all on the active roster.
This scenario is very interesting for Jones, who could still sign with a new team within the next three weeks if another quarterback goes down with an injury.

When a team does sign a player off another organization’s practice squad, the player must be signed to the 53-man active roster.
However, Jones is unlikely to contemplate this scenario unless the team is of playoff caliber.

While still a free agent, he prioritized going to a well-established team and possibly being the backup rather than the starter on a struggling franchise.
Jones is also set to become a free agent at the end of the year, so he will likely use this time to reset and refocus before even considering becoming a starter again.
Daniel Jones Will Still get Millions From The Giants
Jones still had two years left of his four-year $160 million extension with New York.
Just because they cut him does not mean they don’t owe him any more of that money. Since he passed through waivers, the Giants still owe him $11.83 million.
A large price tag for a player is not even on the team.
