Dallas Cowboys fans are all too familiar with their team not doing much of anything come free agency time.
The Dallas Cowboys were reportedly in on the negotiations for free agent running back Zack Moss, but they ultimately did not sign him. It wasn’t because they did not want to, they simply could not.
Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones told reporters at the Senior Bowl earlier this year the team was “all-in” this offseason, but the team doesn’t have the cap space to make things happen.
Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News said the team was in the mix for Moss before he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals and it did not happen for the Cowboys because they could not afford him.
“Cowboys were in the mix today for RB Zack Moss, a person familiar with the discussions said. Ultimately, the price extended past their comfort point. Moss agreed with Bengals on a two-year, $8 million contract that includes $4.525 in earnings this year,” Gehlken tweeted.

The Tennessee Titans already gave former Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard a three-year, $24 million deal. So as of right now, the team has Rico Dowdle as their starting running back. That will obviously change, but it’s hard to figure out who will be placed in that spot.
The team has had to sit back and watch Saquon Barkley reportedly agree to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles and a whole host of other top talent make deals and end their free agency early.
Former Packers RB Aaron Jones was released and signed with the Vikings in less than 24 hours. The Cowboys are rumored to have interest in Derrick Henry but they may not be able to afford him as well.
It is unclear how the Cowboys will handle free agency as the second day of the contract negotiating window begins.
