Dak Prescott is a man who clearly knows his worth and is not settling for less than what he deserves, even if he has a deal that would make him insanely rich.
Pro Football Talk NFL analyst Chris Simms said this week on the “K&C Masterpiece” program on Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan that the Cowboys have offered Prescott a five-year, $175 million contract.
According to Simms, he has already turned down that deal that would’ve made him the highest paid QB in league history. This all seemingly stems with the years presented on the deal as opposed to what he wants.
“From what I know of the situation, alright, and I know from some people who are in the know, he’s been offered five years, $175 million,” Simms said on the show. “He wants a four-year deal. If they do agree to a five-year deal, they would like a really big number at the end of that fifth year to cover their butts for what the market might be at the position five years from now. And I’ve heard he’s asking for somewhere like north of $45 million in that fifth year.”
The quarterback made just over $2 million last season and posted career-best numbers. If he plays for the franchise tag, Prescott will make over $30 million next season.
Apparently, making him the league’s highest-paid player may not be enough to get this deal completed.
