Just when Dallas Cowboys fans thought they could take a sigh of relief, it looks like they will be holding their breath once again.
Earlier on Sunday, multiple reports stated talks between the Cowboys and Elliot have intensified this weekend and that a deal was on the horizon. That was a huge change when you think about the recent comments from owner Jerry Jones who seemed content with starting the season and not having Zeke with the squad.
By Sunday evening, things had drastically changed.
David Moore of the Dallas Morning News first reported the Cowboys and RB Ezekiel Elliott still have “significant ground to cover” before an extension is in place.
Then, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports dropped the bomb when he reported the team and Elliott communicated in the late afternoon on Sunday regarding an extension, with the Cowboys coming away “frustrated” and expecting more compromise from Elliott’s side to get a deal done.
Elliott’s representatives still appear to be targeting a contract that exceeds Todd Gurley‘s four-year, $57.5 million deal he got from the Los Angeles Rams.
