Dak Prescott receiving a long-term contract has been talked about since before the 2019 season even began. Talks broke off at some point and never really began again until a few weeks ago.
Even still, the Cowboys elected to hit their star QB with the franchise tag that further complicated things.
Prescott clearly wants a record-breaking deal, but the franchise would like a more team friendly deal that would keep money with the team to spend elsewhere to make sure they stay competitive for years to come.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that contract talks between both sides ‘haven’t gained much traction.’
The split between both sides is possibly still the guaranteed money and length of the contract. We’ve seen many times over the years where franchises will look out for their best interest and screw the player in the long run, so Dak clearly has that in mind and wants everything owed to him.
