The Miami Dolphins may be without one or two of their star offensive weapons, running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, for Thursday night’s home game against the Buffalo Bills.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane didn’t practice on Tuesday because of chest and ankle injuries, respectively. The two also didn’t practice on Monday.
Mostert had just six carries for nine yards in Sunday’s Week 1 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Achane saw 10 carries for 24 yards and one touchdown. Third-stringer Jeff Wilson Jr. was the team’s leading rusher with five carries for 26 yards.
Additionally, injury expert and sports medicine Dr. Jesse Morse predicts that Mostert and Achane will both miss Thursday’s game. Morse states that playing both running backs on a short week is “too risky to worsen to risk big injury.”

Raheem Mostert is coming off a career year in which he rushed for 1,012 yards and a league-leading 18 touchdowns despite missing two games. The 22-year-old De’Von Achane missed six games but still racked up 800 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns, helping Miami to a second straight AFC Wild Card Round appearance.
Rookie Jaylen Wright (drafted in round four at No. 120 overall) is the No. 4 running back on Miami’s depth chart behind Mostert, Achane and Wilson Jr. Wright was inactive for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.
Raheem Mostert Has Reached Stardom In Miami
Mostert was a feel-good story for the San Francisco 49ers in their run to Super Bowl 54 five seasons ago, racking up 336 rushing yards and five touchdowns in just three postseason games.
But after being limited to nine total games in 2020 and 2021, the 49ers decided to let go of Mostert. The 32-year-old Mostert landed with the Dolphins in 2022 and has emerged as a star under Mike McDaniel, posting over 1,000 yards of offense in each of the last two years.
