Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady actually had interest in signing a deal with the Indianapolis Colts, but the interest didn’t seem to be mutual, NBC Sports’ Peter King reported Monday.
Brady announced Friday he had signed with the Bucs on a contract that guaranteed him $50 million over two seasons and includes up to $4.5 million in incentives each season.
The Colts weren’t in the business of giving him anything close to that.
King wrote, “Though the Brady camp had interest in Indianapolis, the Colts seemed to be set on Philip Rivers on a shorter deal. All other teams in his universe (the Chargers most notably) were further from Brady’s New York home. (Though, of course, he will live in Tampa while he’s a Buc.)”
The 38-year-old Rivers signed a 1-year, $25 million contract.
Indianapolis released backup QB Brian Hoyer who then signed with the Patriots over the weekend.
