The unexpected retirement of Andrew Luck has left a massive hole on the depth chart for the Indianapolis Colts, as former backup Jacoby Brissett is now thrust into the QB of the future spot, but now, the team needs to find a backup option.
Chad Kelly looked serviceable during the preseason, but the team can’t rely on him since he’s suspended the first two games of the 2019 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Colts have worked out an assortment of quarterbacks that include Matt Cassel, Brandon Weeden and Brock Osweiler.
37-year-old Cassel appeared in two games for the Lions in 2018 and threw for 59 yards while completing 41.2 percent of his passes. He has thrown 93 passes since the end of the 2015 season.
35-year-old Weeden hasn’t played or thrown a pass in a significant game since 2015. He has a 6-19 career record.
Brock Osweiler was actually fairly decent last season with the Dolphins as he completed 63.5 percent of his passes and tallying six touchdowns to four interceptions.

It should also be noted that all three have experience playing in the AFC South, with Cassel playing for the Titans and Weeden, Osweiler spending time with the Houston Texans.
