The surging Cleveland Browns do not need an injury to their quarterback right now, but that is exactly what happened when NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Baker Mayfield has a partially torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder.
Mayfield dislocated his shoulder in Week 2 against the Texans and has played through the injury while wearing a shoulder harness during the past few weeks. Mayfield left the game briefly but returned to finish.
That injury might just explain how poorly he played against the Minnesota Vikings where he completed just 15 of his 33 passes, missed several wide-open receivers, and finished with a 59.5 passer rating. He missed WR Odell Beckham Jr. several times on the day, but the team still managed to win 14-7.
The 2018 first overall pick will look to rebound this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
So far in 2021, the 26-year-old has appeared in four games for the Browns and completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 935 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
