This is not the best way to start off your career with a football team, especially when you are undrafted.
Bengals rookie linebacker Darius Hodge was arrested on Sunday in Wake Forest, North Carolina and booked for an assault charge for hitting a man repeatedly two years ago in 2019, according to WRAL.
“Darius Hodge of the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals has been arrested for assault. He was arrested on July 4 in Wake Forest, right off Capital Boulevard near Agora Drive. … He was charged for hitting a man repeatedly back in 2019, but was just arrested on Sunday.”
Hodge was entering his junior year in 2019 when that alleged assault happened.
Including Hodge, the Bengals have 23 defensive linemen and linebackers currently on the roster, so his chances of making the Week 1 roster were slim to begin with.
In 2020, Hodge finished with 63 total tackles, 19 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one pass deflection, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. He finished out his career with 117 total tackles, 37 solo tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, two pass deflections, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
