In just a matter of days, the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs have both lost their No. 1 wide receivers after contract talks broke down and both players ended up being traded away.
Last week, the Green Bay Packers traded WR Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. As for Tyreek Hill, he was set to enter a contract year with the Chiefs, the final year of a three-year, $54 million extension he signed in 2019. Instead, he got traded to the Miami Dolphins.
Those situations have led to both teams contacting the Seattle Seahawks to inquire about Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf.
On Tuesday, Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said that he feels it is “very important” to get an extension done for D.K. Metcalf this offseason.
“We love him. He’s such a great competitive kid and he’s got so much upside, maybe will go down as one of the great draft picks we’ve ever had here … We’re going to do everything we can to get it done,” said Carroll, via Brady Henderson.

Metcalf is entering the final year of his rookie contract. In 2021, Metcalf appeared in 17 games for the Seahawks and recorded 75 receptions for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Lockett, who is 29 years old, logged at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past three seasons. His contract runs through 2025, which would be his age-33 season.
