Now that the grand jury has decided not to indict Deshaun Watson on any charges stemming from his sexual assault allegations, it appears as though several NFL teams are positioning themselves to make a play for the Houston Texans quarterback.
And perhaps no team is better set up to make their move than the Carolina Panthers.
According to recent reports from several sources, the Panthers plan to make an “aggressive” offer for Watson, now that they know he won’t be facing any criminal charges.
It’s believed that the Panthers made an offer for Watson last season, even with his criminal investigation still ongoing. However, the star QB refused to waive his no trade clause.
As for the “aggressive offer” that the Panthers are setting up, it will likely involve several first round picks, some other early round selections, and a key young player or two — based on previous reports of what it would take to acquire Watson.
Based on the report, the Panthers would likely have to dish out at least three first-round picks, another pick, and a young player or two (like Jeremy Chinn, Brian Burns or Derrick Brown) in exchange for the Texans star player.

That sure sounds like an “aggressive” offer. Should the Panthers be willing to offer that type of package, you’d have to think the Texans would be willing to take it. They’d be foolish not to, especially for a quarterback that they don’t intend to use anymore.
