Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had surgery in December on the Lisfranc injury to his foot and he is expected to be 100% before the start of the 2020 season.
Well, that is a very good thing, because the Carolina Panthers are expected to trade him in march when he gets healthy, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Newton is due $19 million in salary but none of it is guaranteed.
After struggling to the tune of 572 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Carolina’s 0-2 start this season, Newton was ruled out due to a foot injury.
Newton’s recent injury history and salary has the team wanting to part ways with him. The jury is still out on whether Kyle Allen will be a quality NFL starting quarterback over the long haul, but he did step in and finish the season with 3,32 yards passing, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
He also has a new head coach in Matt Rhule who will likely want who he wants at QB for the start of his tenure.
