The number just keeps on growing when it comes to lawsuits being filed against Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. The number has been at 22 for a while now, but today it increased to 23 with a new claimant emerging.
According to ESPN’s Sarah Barshop, the latest woman to file a lawsuit against Watson claims she “changed her mind about filing a lawsuit after watching the HBO Real Sports piece,” which aired last week.
It was believed by some that a decision on Watson’s fate could be coming from the NFL in the very near future. This new lawsuit could change that, however, as the league now has a new claimant to investigate.
The time is ticking for the league to make a decision, as Roger Goodell has already confirmed that Watson will not be placed on the Commissioner’s exempt list this season — he’ll either be suspended, or be eligible to play for his new team.
Watson demanded a trade from his former team, the Houston Texans, during the 2021 offseason. Shortly after, he was at the center of a disturbing scandal, as dozens of women accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior during what were supposed to be professional massage sessions.

Watson sat out the entire 2021 season while being paid by the Houston Texans. They finally went ahead and unloaded him this offseason, when he was shipped to the Cleveland Browns for three first-round picks, a third-rounder, and two fourths. He was signed to a fully guaranteed, five-year, $230-million deal shortly after.
It may be some time before the Browns get to use him, though, as there’s a very real chance that Watson could be facing a lengthy suspension from Roger Goodell.
