Aaron Rodgers emerged from darkness last week, but everybody, including the Green Bay Packers still remain in the dark about what he is going to do when it comes to his career.
Nearly a week after he emerged from his isolated darkness retreat, Rodgers has not communicated his intentions for next season, with Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst stating as much at the NFL Scouting Combine.
ESPN’s Jeff Darlington dropped a damning report that dives into the possibility that both the Packers and Rodgers are going through a breakup behind the scenes.
Tweeting Tuesday, “This situation between Rodgers and the Packers, both publicly and privately, is feeling more like two sides trying to navigate the perceptions of a breakup rather than two sides trying to find a way to continue forward together. Very interesting two weeks ahead.”
The 39-year-old Rodgers could decide to retire, return to the Packers or request a trade. He stated he wouldn’t keep them team as hostages over this decision, but that is exaclty what he is doing with each passing day.
The future Hall of Famer doesn’t have a no-trade clause, but basically has say-so on where he would go because he could very much retire if he doesn’t like the destination. The Jets are one of a handful of teams expected to be in the market for Rodgers if he becomes available.
