Bill Belichick reportedly knows which team he’d like to coach in 2024, as questions about his future with the New England Patriots continue to ramp up.
With the Patriots clinching their third losing and non-playoff season in four years, many wonder if owner Robert Kraft will decide to make a change at head coach. Belichick has been the Pats’ HC and de facto GM since 2000.
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe (h/t of NESN.com), Belichick’s preference is to stay on as New England’s head coach in 2024:
“I’m told Belichick doesn’t want to leave New England, but he doesn’t control his fate,’ Volin wrote. “Kraft does.”
It has been widely reported that Belichick’s contract with the Patriots runs through 2024. If Kraft decides to make a change at HC, he could always look to trade Belichick to another team as opposed to outright firing him and getting nothing in compensation.
The 3-11 Patriots will try to play spoiler on Sunday when they visit Russell Wilson and the playoff-hopeful Denver Broncos.
