One day ago, it was believed that the Cleveland Browns would NOT be granting Baker Mayfield his trade request, as they intended to keep the 2018 first-overall pick after apparently striking out on Deshaun Watson.
Now, following news that the Browns have reemerged out of nowhere to win the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes, it looks like Mayfield will get his wish after all. The Browns will no doubt trade Baker now that they’ve committed to Watson by giving up five draft picks for him before signing the star quarterback to a monster five-yer contract.
With Baker now a free man, it appears as though he already has a new team in mind.
According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, Mayfield has already informed the Browns that he would prefer to be traded to the Indianapolis Colts. Howe also points out that the Browns still have to agree to accommodate a trade to an AFC foe.
The Colts are one of several NFL teams that are still left without a quarterback following all of the movement over the past few weeks. It was believed that many more dominos would fall once the Watson trade was finalized. Mayfield to the Colts could be one of them.
