All eyes are on San Francisco 49ers superstar wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk amid reports that he may soon be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It’s been almost a month since Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade from the 49ers, following unsuccessful negotiations on a new contract. The 26-year-old and 2020 first-round pick is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
According to Antonio Brown and his CTESPN company, Aiyuk desires “to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and will not accept any offer from the 49ers.” This scoop from Brown came soon after NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Aiyuk’s preference is to remain a 49er, which hence the holdup on a trade to Pittsburgh.
Though it’s easy to ignore any “news” passed on by Antonio Brown, it’s worth noting that CTESPN was first to report that Russell Wilson was signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers following his release from the Denver Broncos.

On Tuesday afternoon, NFL Network’s Ian Rapport reported that the Steelers and 49ers had the framework in place for a Brandon Aiyuk trade and that it was up to San Francisco to sign off on the deal.
Aiyuk is coming off a career year in which he caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. He helped the 49ers to a Super Bowl 58 appearance, where they wound up falling to Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.
A Brandon Aiyuk Trade To Steelers Would Shake Up The AFC Landscape
The Steelers won 10 games and qualified for the postseason with a lackluster offense that featured the use of three quarterbacks (Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett).
They upgraded at quarterback by adding Wilson and Justin Fields. Now imagine if they add a top-10 NFL wide receiver in Brandon Aiyuk to their offense. He’d be working alongside rising star George Pickens, stud tight end Pat Freiermuth and the dynamic rushing duo of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.
So If Aiyuk is indeed on his way to Pittsburgh, the entire AFC landscape will change drastically. One can even argue that the Steelers would be Kansas City’s biggest threat in the AFC with Aiyuk.
