For the first time in his career, star running back Derrick Henry will test NFL free agency when the market officially opens in two weeks.
Henry has spent his entire eight-year career with the Tennessee Titans, but all signs point to the two-time rushing champion playing elsewhere in 2024. And one of the top contenders in the AFC seems to be emerging as a sleeper team to land the 30-year-old.
The DraftKings sportsbook previously had the Miami Dolphins listed as a +7500 longshot to land the 2020 Offensive Player of the Year. Those odds have now jumped up to +1000, tied with the Titans and Houston Texans for the third-best odds.
The Baltimore Ravens remain the heavy betting favorites to land Henry at +110, followed by the Dallas Cowboys at +450. Still, the fact Miami has moved up this much in short time suggests that they shouldn’t be ruled out as a potential landing spot.
It’s not exactly clear if the Dolphins are interested in pursuing Henry, though. They already have two of the league’s most explosive RBs in Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, who rushed for 1,012 and 800 yards last season, respectively. Achane would have hit 1,000 yards rushing as well if he didn’t miss six games.
At any rate, there should be plenty of teams interested in Henry. Only Christian McCaffrey had more rushing yards in 2023 than Henry, who racked up 1,167 on the year.
