It sounds like Aaron Rodgers has a preferred destination when it comes to all this trade talk rumors.
According to NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright, Aaron Rodgers told his representatives earlier this week to reach out to the San Francisco 49ers and tell them to “come get him.”
And based off earlier reports, the Niners did just that, although they were told that Rodgers wasn’t going anywhere. So they reverted back to their original plans of drafting Trey Lance third overall.
Allbright also states that Rodgers has in fact told some of his close teammates that he won’t be coming back. He also states that it was Rodgers’ camp who was trying to backchannel interest with teams like the Broncos, Raiders and Dolphins in order to maximize his leverage.
The reports of a deal being close with the Broncos were never true, however. The Packers never even officially communicated with Denver. Rather, it was someone representing Rodgers who was communicating with an individual who was close with the Broncos organization, but not actually a part of it.
As for the reports of a deal being all but done between the two sides, that was falsely released by a media source in Denver.
