On Sunday, the New England Patriots came into Hard Rock Stadium and defeated the Miami Dolphins 43-0 in Week 2. There is no doubt the Patriots would’ve won the game big regardless, but it seems that score was helped a bit by the refs.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Dolphins’ linebacker Raekwon McMillan was scolded by an official after a clean hit on Tom Brady during the game.
I understand the refs wanting to protect the quarterback, but until we hear a similar like story about a ref telling a defender to remove himself from a lower tier quarterback, we’re just going to assume that Tom Brady has way more protection on his side besides his offensive line.
This statement also throws away the notion of Patriots fans thinking the league is out to get the team, most notably, Tom Brady.
Even still, Brady didn’t need the help to win the game. Without his production, Stephen Gostowski’s 2 field goals, and the Patriots’ defense’s two pick-six’s would’ve been way more than enough to win the game.
