An NFL ref was forced to apologize to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins after poking him in the eye, or at least coming close to it, during the AFC showdown vs. the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.
The official was on the mic explaining a penalty during the second quarter of the game and did not see Higgins walking near him while gesturing. His hand ended up in the player’s face before he said “Sorry about that” and continued with his explanation, though it’s clear he was a bit flustered by the inadvertent poke.

The Bengals were up 14-7 at the time but went into halftime with a 21-7 lead.
