Jay Gruden might have the hottest seat for a head coach in the entire National Football League. He has been the head coach of the team since 2014 and currently boast a record of 35-47-1 and that includes an 0-3 record so far in 2019.
He may just have one more time to prove himself, because Les Carpenter of the Washington Post, citing two sources with knowledge of the situation, reports that Gruden could be fired if the team does not defeat the New York Giants on Sunday.
Gruden still remains optimistic for the season.
“I’ve seen a guy walk on the moon, for God’s sakes,” Gruden said recently. “Surely an 0-3 team can come back from the depths of 0-3 and put on a nine-, 10-game streak and win 10 of their last 13 games. It’s not that big of a deal, right?”
He stated earlier this week that he doesn’t feel like he’s coaching for his job this week.
Gruden has qualified for the postseason just once with the Redskins, which was back in 2015. He has just one season above .500 since that season.
