Lewis recently sat down with Manning for the ESPN+ series Peyton’s Places, which commemorates the NFL’s 100th anniversary. In addition to the two hall of fame players picking apart crabs, Lewis and Manning playfully went head-to-head playing chess while speaking on numerous topics.
One of the topics that came up was the lights mysteriously going out in Super Bowl XLVII when the Baltimore Ravens held 28-6 lead 11 seconds into the second half after Jacoby Jones returned the kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown.
The hall of fame linebacker screamed about a conspiracy from somebody to get those lights out to make that Super Bowl closer than it should’ve been.
Lights went out for 34 minutes soon after the 28-6 lead.
The 49ers went on a scoring frenzy and made it competitive, scoring 17 unanswered third-quarter points to cut the Ravens’ lead to 28–23, and continued to chip away in the fourth quarter. The Ravens managed to hold on and win 34-31.
