The NFL Draft is important for all 32 NFL Teams, but some need it more than others each year. The top teams use it to bolster their rosters and continue winning, while the bottom teams look to bring in the next big pieces for their franchise.
Here is a list of all Teams and who needs the best NFL Draft.
It’s MAKE or BREAK for these teams in the 2024 NFL Draft
f
32. Kansas City Chiefs
NFL Draft Needs: OT, WR, CB
The Kansas City Chiefs won another Lombardi Trophy in 2023 despite their offense not having the best season. In the offseason, they lost CB Le’Jarious Snead, so they must address the position. But their WR production was more than lackluster last season, so you should expect them to address that position first. After the back-to-back Super Bowls and the fact that you will have Patrick Mahomes for years, you shouldn’t worry much about the Chiefs Draft.
31. Houston Texans

NFL Draft Needs: OT, DT, CB
With CJ Stroud running the show in Houston, the Texans have one of the best young cores in the NFL. Their focus will be adding to it. Picking up an OT to protect their new franchise QB and then drafting some more defensive talent is all this team needs to have a quality draft.
30. Miami Dolphins
NFL Draft Needs: IOL, S, WR
The Miami Dolphins need to fix their offensive line through the Draft to protect Tua Tagovailoa. After that, it’s just building for the future. They will also look for some help in the WR room for Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, which would be helpful considering their minor injury problems. Then, you will likely see them adding some rotational pieces on the defense to put this team in a great position for the future.
29. Cleveland Browns
NFL Draft Needs: LB, RB, OT
The Cleveland Browns were the surprise of the NFL in 2023. Many believed they would be good, but not 11-6 good. The Browns managed to have a good season, even though they suffered a lot of major injuries to key pieces. They have a talented roster and addressed needs in free agency at WR and LB, so you should expect the Browns to look at continuing building depth for 2024 in the Draft.
28. San Francisco 49ers
NFL Draft Needs: DI, OL, LB
You’re not desperate in the Draft when you only need help on one side of the Football. San Francisco needs to fix its run defense. It lost two vital interior defenders in free agency and spent much of last season struggling against the run. With the emergence of Brock Purdy, it also could use some help on the offensive line. However, the 49ers have been good for years because of their talented roster, and they will draft the right pieces to continue that reputation.
27. Detroit Lions
Needs: CB, S, OL
The Detroit Lions have more talent on offense than most teams in the NFL, which is evident in their run to the NFC Championship. Their one true weakness got weaker in Free Agency: the pass defense. Detroit gave up 4,500 yards through the air last year, and It doesn’t help that they had to release Cameron Sutton, so expect the Lions to draft multiple defensive backs in the Draft.
26. Green Bay Packers
NFL Draft Needs: OT, LB, WR
The Packers are another team in the Draft looking for depth. In 2023, they outperformed expectations and won a playoff game for the first time without Aaron Rodgers, so now it’s time to build around Jordan Love. Look for them now to find a replacement for their aging offensive line and get more WRs for Jordan Love. By signing Xavier Mckinney in free agency, they added a Pro Bowl safety, so adding an LB could also be a focus of the Green Bay Packers.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers
Needs: OL, WR, CB
The Steelers had their fair share of problems in 2023 but still made the playoffs. This offseason, they added QB’s Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, which gives them space to focus on the rest of their offense. Their WRs were a huge problem last season, not because of talent but because of effort.
24. Cincinnati Bengals
NFL Draft Needs: TE, DL, WR
The Bengals were bit by the injury bug last season and will likely lose WR Tee Higgins after failed contract negotiations. At #18, they could be in a perfect position to draft Brock Bowers or another explosive WR like Adoni Mitchell from Texas or add another LSU stud in Brian Thomas Jr.
23. Las Vegas Raiders
Needs: QB, OL
It’s a new day in Las Vegas with new Head Coach Antonio Pierce, and it’s time for them to draft a new quarterback. At pick #13, they might not get the best quarterback in the Draft, but they could definitely find a gem. With multiple quarterbacks expected to go off the board early, don’t be surprised if the Raiders land former Heisman winner Michael Penix Jr.
22. Philadelphia Eagles
Needs: CB, LB, DE
The Philadelphia Eagles have been highly active in free agency, but now it’s time to fix the minor remaining problems. The reality of their roster is that it has a young core held together by old pieces. Darius Slay and James Bradberry are getting older and slower, so a new CB to pair with Isaiah Rodgers is their top priority. They will then search for a DE to replace Brandon Graham next season and the production of Hassan Reddick.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Needs: WR, EDGE
The Buccaneers have two needs in the Draft: WR and DE. Mike Evans is clearly on the back end of his career, and after signing Baker Mayfield, it’s time to get him some weapons. At the defensive end, the Buccaneers just weren’t good enough last season. The player with the second most sacks on the team was a safety, while no player had more than eight sacks last year.
20. Baltimore Ravens
Needs: DB, WR, OL
The Ravens have historically been among the best teams at selecting top talent in the NFL Draft. This year should be no different, as they have obvious needs at OL, DB, and WR. Baltimore lost three starting offensive linemen in free agency and was not very active. But for a team that wasn’t very active in free agency, you should expect them to be in the Draft.
19. Los Angeles Rams
Needs: CB, DL, LB
Somehow, Sean McVay always finds gems in the Draft. The perfect example is Puka Nacua, last year’s 177th overall pick for the Rams, who was the runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year. This year, they will have to replace future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald and patch up the defense that’s been torn apart over the last few seasons. This will give Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ offense some support on defense.
18. Jacksonville Jaguars
NFL Draft Needs: WR, CB
Jacksonville has nine picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to try to regain its dominance in the AFC South. Last season was a huge disappointment for the team, as it missed the playoffs. They also lost Calvin Ridley in free agency, and with a top quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, look for them to fill that position in this year’s WR-loaded Draft.
17. Tennessee Titans
Needs: DL, OL, TE
Tennessee has been another very active team in free agency, signing multiple players, including RB Tony Pollard and WR Calvin Ridley. Now, it’s time to draft some help up front to protect their young quarterback, Will Levis. Their biggest focus in the Draft will be the offensive and defensive line, which will give them the physical presence Mike Vrabel likes to play with. A solid draft could have them competing with the Texans to win the AFC South.
16. Atlanta Falcons
Needs: EDGE, CB, WR
After signing Kirk Cousins, all eyes are on the Draft for Atlanta. The amount of money they gave the veteran QB limited what they could do in free agency, but last year, they rebuilt their defense and revamped their offensive line. With four picks in the top 100, the Falcons can build around Kirk Cousins.
15. Seattle Seahawks
Needs: QB, OL, EDGE
The Seattle Seahawks have a mid-first-round pick with the 16th pick, and they’re in the same mid-round position with their other six picks. Seattle has most of their core players under contract for a year or two, so this Draft will focus more on pushing them to be contenders for years to come. Maybe they take a chance on a QB, get some offensive line help for Geno Smith, or find a new pass rusher to speed up opposing QBs and help their young DBs in coverage.
14. Arizona Cardinals
Needs: WR, CB
The Arizona Cardinals are one of the most interesting teams in the NFL. They have talent but lose a lot because they’ve battled injuries. So this year, coming into the season, a solid draft could make them a true contender in the NFC. The most challenging thing for them is winning their division, getting QB Kyler Murray some help, and building a solid defense through the Draft, which could expedite their rebuild.
13. New Orleans Saints
NFL Draft Needs: OL, CB
It hasn’t been a party for New Orleans since they lost QB Drew Brees to retirement. Adding QB Derek Carr last season couldn’t get them back to the playoffs. But Carr needs extra help up front on the offensive line to play to his full potential. The Saints have been very good in the Draft, so addressing their obvious problems in 2024 of OL and CB could put them back in position to win a weak NFC South division.
12. Indianapolis Colts
Needs: WR, CB
The Colts did all they could last season after losing rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson to injury. But one big thing for them was the emergence of WR Michael Pittman, the return of Jonathan Taylor, and the development of their defensive line, which finished the year 5th in sacks. Like the Titans, this roster is a few pieces away from making the AFC South a competitive division and potentially winning it.
11. New York Jets
Needs: WR, TE, S
With Aaron Rodgers likely only being with the Jets for a few years, they are desperate to get him a solid roster if they want to fulfill their Super Bowl aspirations. This roster is average at best, and the main thing they need is weapons for Rodgers. They will be one of many teams in pursuit of Brock Bowers at TE, but if they don’t get him, they will add a WR to play alongside Garett Wilson.

10. Buffalo Bills
Needs: S, WR
This offseason, the Bills lost WR Gabe Davis, CB Tre’davious White, S Micah Hyde, and S Jordan Poyer. All four have been key pieces to their success, and with speculation about potentially losing Stefon Diggs as well, the Bills need to start preparing for the future. This is the perfect time to do that, with 11 draft picks in 2024. While they don’t have many early in the Draft, they can use picks to trade up or trade for other players.
9. Minnesota Vikings
Need: QB, CB
The Minnesota Vikings have two first-round draft picks in this year’s NFL Draft. After losing quarterback Kirk Cousins in the offseason, it’s expected they will use their first pick on a quarterback. With two picks, they have the leverage to move up and take a chance on a top quarterback in the Draft or try and take a risk on whoever falls to them at 11. But if they mess this up, it could be a long year for them.
8. Los Angeles Chargers
Needs: WR, LB
The Los Angeles Chargers have a new coach, Jim Harbough, who will look to build around QB Justin Herbert in this year’s Draft. After losing WRs Mike Williams and Keenan Allen to trades, the Chargers will have to address the position immediately, and with the #5 pick, they have some great options. Under a new Coach, the Chargers need a good draft to rebuild quickly.
7. New England Patriots
Needs: QB, WR, OT
The New England Patriots are starting a new era under Head Coach Jerrod Mayo. First, they have to focus on the quarterback positions, and then they can begin the rebuild. They will still struggle next season, but this year’s Draft is picking up the keys to their future.
6. Washington Commanders
NFL Draft Needs: QB, DL, CB
For the Commanders, it’s not just a new era; it’s a whole new world. Since selling the team from Dan Schnyder to Josh Harris, Washington has made significant changes in its coaching staff and let some struggling players go. In Free Agency, they added multiple players to revamp the roster. Now, the Draft is the next step; they will start by drafting a QB, and then they can rebuild their roster and create the beginning of an entirely new culture.
5. Denver Broncos
Needs: Everything
It’s not looking good in Denver. They just lost Russell Wilson and Jerry Judy, and Sean Payton will be next if he doesn’t show signs of life for the organization this season. The pressure is on, as they need help at every defensive position. More importantly, they have to get a quarterback who can come in and help them in the future.
4. Carolina Panthers
Needs: Everything
The Carolina Panthers were sad last season. After trading up last season for Bryce Young, they missed out on the #1 draft pick this season. With no first-round pick, every single selection in this year’s Draft needs to be good for Carolina to get out of the gutter of the NFL.
3. New York Giants
Needs: WR, TE, S
The New York Giants have put themselves in troubled waters after overpaying quarterback Daniel Jones and not paying RB Saquon Barkley. Now, the Giants will try to address the positions of players they lost in free agency after many key players left the team. New York was disappointing in 2023, and if this Draft isn’t good, they will have the same year in 2024.
2. Chicago Bears
Needs: QB, Edge, WR
The Chicago Bears can not mess up this Draft. It’s assumed they will take USC quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams at #1 overall, and they have another top pick at #9 to add a top receiver or pass rusher. But after trading quarterback Justin Fields for two low draft picks, all eyes will be on what they do with this much draft capital.
1. Dallas Cowboys
NFL Draft Needs: DL, OL, RB
Jerry Jones put pressure on the Dallas Cowboys by saying they’re “All In” this season in pursuit of a Championship Trophy. But he also needed to be more aggressive in free agency and even let a few key players sign elsewhere. If Dallas doesn’t have a good draft, this will be another disappointing Cowboys season and likely the end of the Dak Prescott era.
