Here’s our ranking of all 32 NFL starting running backs for 2024, from worst to first! Let’s take a look around the league and see who are the game-changers piling up stats and whose production is lagging.
Who are the top starting running backs in the NFL after week 8?
32. Las Vegas Raiders: Alexander Mattison (Last Week #25)
What a disaster of an afternoon for Alexander Mattison. The Raiders handed him the ball 14 times, and he could barely eclipse one yard a carry, finishing with a pathetic 15 yards.
31. San Francisco 49ers: Jordan Mason (Last Week #18)
Jordan Mason had a tough week, managing just 18 yards on six carries before being forced out of the game with an injury.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Rachaad White (Not Ranked)
Rachaad White showed his versatility, scoring on an 18-yard catch, but his early fumble was costly. He had five catches for 38 yards and six carries for 29 yards.

29. Seattle Seahawks: Kenneth Walker III (Last Week #14)
A really tough afternoon for Kenneth Walker III on the ground, as he managed just 12 yards on nine carries. At least he was able to contribute modestly in the passing game with four catches for 33 yards.
28. Dallas Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott (Not Ranked)
Another week, another uninspiring performance from the Cowboys’ starting NFL running back. Elliott did manage to get in the end zone once, but he did not look particularly explosive, and his numbers left a lot to be desired.
27. Denver Broncos: Javonte Williams (Last Week #19)
Javonte Williams struggled to find any meaningful space to run through this week, turning 17 carries into a measly 44 yards.

26. Cincinnati Bengals: Chase Brown (Last Week #29)
Chase Brown got into the end zone, but the Bengals’ run game was almost nonexistent. Brown’s 32 yards on 12 carries didn’t move the needle.
25. Carolina Panthers: Chuba Hubbard (Last Week #15)
Carolina’s run game struggled to get going, and Chuba Hubbard finished with 56 yards on 15 carries.
24. New York Giants: Devin Singletary (Not Ranked)
Week 8 was a tough matchup for Devin Singletary, as he returned from injury to face a talented Steelers defense. He had a hard time finding space, and the Giants went back to Tyrone Tracy, who massively outperformed Singletary’s two carries for 11 yards.
23. New England Patriots: Rhamondre Stevenson (Last Week #32)
Despite a quiet afternoon in terms of yardage, Rhamondre Stevenson was a force, pushing through the Jets’ line for two crucial touchdowns, including the game-winner.
22. Cleveland Browns: Nick Chubb (Last Week #26)
Nick Chubb may not be back to his peak just yet, but he’s still a rock for this offense. When Chubb is in the lineup, this Browns team has a different edge. He should continue to build on this 52-yard performance.
21. Minnesota Vikings: Aaron Jones (Last Week #11)
Aaron Jones struggled to get much going against a Rams front that dared Sam Darnold to beat them through the air. He finished with 58 yards on 19 carries and two catches for 37 receiving yards.
20. Tennessee Titans: Tony Pollard (Last Week #22)
Tony Pollard led the way with 95 yards on 20 carries, giving the Titans some consistency on the ground, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with Detroit’s explosive offense.
19. New Orleans Saints: Alvin Kamara (Last Week #30)
Fresh off his new deal, Alvin Kamara had a solid afternoon, turning his 16 touches into 122 all-purpose yards.
18. Arizona Cardinals: James Conner (Last Week #20)
James Conner was as reliable as ever, capping off a crucial fourth-quarter drive with a 2-yard touchdown that pulled Arizona within two. He’s not flashy, but Conner’s tough running keeps defenses honest.
17. Washington Commanders: Brian Robinson Jr. (Last Week #12)
Brian Robinson Jr. kept the chains moving, providing stability and keeping Chicago’s defense honest. He finished the game with 16 carries for 65 yards.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Tank Bigsby (Last Week #17)
Tank Bigsby had another productive game for Jacksonville, turning his 18 carries into 78 yards.
15. Miami Dolphins: De'Von Achane (Last Week #16)
De’Von Achane was a star for Miami today, racking up 97 yards on the ground and adding a 12-yard touchdown catch to his stat line.
14. Los Angeles Chargers: J.K. Dobbins (Last Week #28)
J.K. Dobbins brought power and precision to the run game, especially with his 1-yard touchdown run that capped off an 8-minute, 90-yard drive. He finished the game with 17 carries for 57 yards and the aforementioned score.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris (Last Week #10)
Najee Harris came into Week 8 having posted back-to-back 100-yard performances. Credit to Harris for managing to keep his level up to some degree against a strong Giants defensive line.
12. Kansas City Chiefs: Kareem Hunt (Last Week #6)
Kareem Hunt was impressive yet again for Kansas City, powering his way to 59 yards and a score despite immense pressure from the Raiders’ D-line.
11. New York Jets: Breece Hall (Last Week #7)
Breece Hall continued to grind, putting up 80 yards on 16 carries and providing some much-needed balance to the Jets offense.
10. Buffalo Bills: James Cook (Last Week #21)
James Cook was powerful, explosive, and exciting on Sunday. He led the way for the Bills offense, putting up 117 yards and two touchdowns, and chipped in with three catches for 22 yards.
9. Detroit Lions: Jahmyr Gibbs (Last Week #9)
Jahmyr Gibbs was electric, notching a season-high 127 yards, including a highlight-reel 70-yard touchdown that left the Titans reeling.
8. Baltimore Ravens: Derrick Henry (Last Week #5)
Derrick Henry looked good again this week despite limited usage. Still, 11 carries for 73 yards and a score is a solid afternoon.
7. Houston Texans: Joe Mixon (Last Week #8)
Joe Mixon had another big week for Houston, turning 25 carries into 102 yards and a touchdown.
6. Los Angeles Rams: Kyren Williams (Last Week #3)
While much of the attention was on the return of the Rams’ star receivers, Kyren Williams was a steady force out of the backfield, contributing 97 yards on the ground and a touchdown through the air.
5. Indianapolis Colts: Jonathan Taylor (Not Ranked)
The Colts have to be happy to have Jonathan Taylor back in the lineup. The true RB1 took 20 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown.
4. Atlanta Falcons: Bijan Robinson (Last Week #2)
Bijan Robinson had another strong performance, taking 13 carries for 63 yards and adding six catches for 37 yards and a touchdown through the air.
3. Chicago Bears: D'Andre Swift (Last Week #4)
Another stellar week from D’Andre Swift, who has been running the ball with the best of them recently. He took 18 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown.
2. Philadelphia Eagles: Saquon Barkley (Last Week #1)
When Barkley’s in his groove like this, he’s the perfect counterbalance to Hurts’ versatility, wearing down the defense and opening up the passing game. He racked up 108 yards on 22 carries in the win.
1. Green Bay Packers: Josh Jacobs (Last Week #13)
This was the Josh Jacobs the Packers were hoping for when they brought him in from Las Vegas this offseason. The former league leader in rushing took 25 carries for 127 yards and two scores.
