Week 5 brought plenty of ups and downs for NFL quarterbacks, as we saw some of the league’s top dogs put up monster afternoons and some, well, let’s say, uninspiring performances as well. There is still plenty of time left in the season for most of these signal-callers to change the narrative around their seasons, though!
But before all that unfolds—let’s take a look around the NFL and see how every team’s QB1 stacks up.
Who are the top NFL Quarterbacks after week 5 of games?
32. Carolina Panthers: Andy Dalton (Last Week #23)
Week 5 was a tough one for Andy Dalton, whose performance was uninspiring, to say the least. Completing just 18 of 28 passes for 136 yards, Dalton looked shaky in the pocket and really couldn’t get anything going.
31. Tennessee Titans (bye): Will Levis (Last Week #31)
After suffering a shoulder injury on Monday Night Football, Will Levis was forced out of the action, and Mason Rudolph was slotted in. Thankfully, he had the bye this week to recuperate, but it is still unclear if he will start in Week 6 against the Colts.
30. Las Vegas Raiders: Gardner Minshew (Last Week #24)

Gardner Minshew came out hot, completing his first nine passes and helping the Raiders build a 10-0 lead. However, his day fell apart after Surtain’s game-changing interception. Minshew’s overthrown pass turned into seven points for the Broncos, and his control of the offense fell apart to the point that he was actually benched for Aidan O’Connell.
29. Miami Dolphins: Tyler Huntley (Last Week #32)
Tyler Huntley did just enough on Sunday to get the job done for Miami. The perennial backup completed 18 of 31 passes for 194 yards and no touchdowns with one interception, but he helped convert a couple of big first downs in the second half.
28. New England Patriots: Jacoby Brissett (Last Week #30)
Despite the occasional flash of hope, Brissett’s performance wasn’t enough to break the Patriots’ slump. He completed just 18 of 34 attempts for 160 yards and no touchdowns, as the Patriots’ passing attack was a nullity on Sunday.
27. Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson (Last Week #28)
Deshaun Watson had another rough outing, going 15 of 28 for 125 yards and a late, meaningless touchdown. Safe to say that he is downright washed up.

26. Los Angeles Chargers (bye): Justin Herbert (Last Week #25)
Justin Herbert needed the bye this week in a bad way. The Chargers quarterback has been banged up for most of the season and has not looked like himself.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers: Justin Fields (Last Week #12)
Week 5 was a step back for Justin Fields, who completed 15 of 27 passes for 131 yards. He did manage to throw two touchdowns, but the dual-threat quarterback just wasn’t flowing the way he had in recent weeks.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence (Last Week #27)
Trevor Lawrence celebrated his 25th birthday with a statement game. The former Clemson star dialed up a vintage performance with 371 yards and two touchdowns as he continues to make the case that he is still the franchise quarterback that Jacksonville thought him to be.
23. New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers (Last Week #15)
The London matinee with Minnesota was not kind to the Jets veteran quarterback, as Rodgers threw three picks, two of them in the first quarter—which put the Jets in a huge hole early. He managed to find Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard for scores, but his costly misfires, including the one on the final drive to Stephon Gilmore, were the difference in the game.
22. Indianapolis Colts: Joe Flacco (Last Week #29)
Another impressive afternoon for Joe Flacco, who brought the Colts back from a 14-point deficit and kept Jacksonville on edge. But his 359 yards, three touchdowns, and late-game heroics were all in vain, as his team fell just short of victory in the end.
21. Denver Broncos: Bo Nix (Last Week #26)
Don’t look now, but Bo Nix might actually be starting to develop into the quarterback that Sean Payton believed him to be heading into the draft process. The rookie put on his best performance yet, rebounding from a shaky season start, posting a line of 206 yards passing, two touchdowns, and even a rushing score. The way Nix did it was impressive, too, as he spread the ball around to a franchise-record 11 receivers, showing poise and command.
20. New York Giants: Daniel Jones (Last Week #22)
This was a classic NFL shocker, with Daniel Jones stringing together a gutsy performance despite not having Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary, who just so happened to make up 95% of the team’s offense prior to that point. Jones was particularly solid in the short passing and play-action game, as he carved his way to 230 yards passing, two touchdowns, and a win.
19. Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford (Last Week #17)
It looked like Matthew Stafford might’ve been on track for another miracle win in Week 5, but his offense just couldn’t execute at the level it needed to down the stretch. When all was said and done, he finished with 260 yards on 29 of 45 passing with one touchdown and one interception.
18. Philadelphia Eagles (bye): Jalen Hurts (Last Week #19)
The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for Jalen Hurts, who, for the first time in years, has Philly wondering if they actually have their franchise quarterback or not. He needs to take a long look in the mirror and figure out how to cut back on the turnovers and clean up his erratic play.
17. San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy (Last Week #9)
Brock Purdy had a mixed day. He threw for 229 yards and a touchdown, but the interception he surrendered late in the fourth quarter really hurt San Francisco and could’ve been avoided.
16. Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith (Last Week #14)
Statistically speaking, Geno Smith played fairly well on Sunday, completing 28 of 40 passes for 284 yards and a touchdown. He also managed to accumulate 72 yards on just four carries, which isn’t typically his go-to. That said, his offense really struggled on third down, and he needed to do more to get his team a win against a New York side that should have been a layup.
15. Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams (Last Week #20)
Caleb Williams showcased exactly why he was the first overall pick in the 2024 draft. He looked completely in control, throwing for 304 yards and two touchdowns with a swagger that screamed franchise quarterback.
14. Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott (Last Week #13)
Week 5 was the full Dak Prescott experience… Some amazing throws, some head-scratching turnovers, and an impressive drive down the field to win the game in the final seconds. He’ll need to tighten things up though if this team wants to contend. He didn’t play as well as you might think, having seen 29 completions for 352 yards and two touchdowns, as the turnovers and stalled drives were a huge issue.
13. Atlanta Falcons: Kirk Cousins (Last Week #21)
Kirk Cousins had a career performance on Thursday Night Football, throwing for 509 yards and four touchdowns, including the walk-off 45-yarder in overtime to KhaDarel Hodge. This was a huge game for the Falcons and Cousins personally, as he really cemented his arrival in Atlanta.
12. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love (Last Week #11)
Week 5 was not the best we’ve seen out of Jordan Love so far… Not by a long shot. The Packers’ talented quarterback looked a little bit out of sorts without his top two options, but he did well in building some rapport on the fly with Tucker Kraft and Jayden Reed. He finished the game with 15 completions on 26 attempts for 224 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
11. New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr (Last Week #16)
Derek Carr made some impressive throws on Monday Night Football, but he didn’t quite have enough in the tank to keep pace with the one and only Patrick Mahomes.
10. Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen (Last Week #10)
Sunday was the definition of a mixed bag for Josh Allen. He did well to rally the Bills back after a slow start, but even so, the stat line was not pretty, as he finished with just nine completions on 30 attempts! And if it weren’t for that semi-lucky catch and run that he connected with Keon Coleman on 4th down for, it really would’ve been ugly.
9. Detroit Lions (bye): Jared Goff (Last Week #8)
Jared Goff got a well-deserved week off with his team on the bye. The veteran signal-caller has had an impressive start to the season in Detroit and is in the running as a dark horse to win MVP.
8. Minnesota Vikings: Sam Darnold (Last Week #4)
It wasn’t Sam Darnold’s best showing, but he played well enough against his old team to get the job done! He finished the London match-up with New York, completing 14 of 31 passes for 179 yards with one interception.
7. Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray (Last Week #18)
Kyler Murray was impressive in Week 5 against a tough 49ers team. The accuracy could still improve, but he turned his 30 attempts into 19 completions for 195 yards and a score with one interception. But what makes Murray different is that he can still add to the offense on the ground, which he did emphatically, converting seven carries into 83 yards and a score.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield (Last Week #2)
While his team came up short in Week 5, Baker Mayfield had himself another solid performance, throwing for 180 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on just 24 passing attempts.
5. Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud (Last Week #3)
It wasn’t perfect for C.J. Stroud on Sunday, but the second-year quarterback did what he does and led the Texans to victory on the strength of 331 yards passing and a touchdown. That said, there were definitely a couple of plays, like the intentional grounding and the nearly devastating turnovers in the second half… But no harm, no foul!
4. Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels (Last Week #6)
It wasn’t his sharpest performance passing-wise, but Jayden Daniels had another impressive showing Sunday at home. He completed 14 of 25 passes for 238 yards and one touchdown with one interception. He also added 82 yards on the ground.
3. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow (Last Week #5)
This was the Joe Burrow we have been waiting to see all season. The Bengals franchise quarterback had a heck of a game, completing 30 of 39 passes for 392 yards and five touchdowns with one interception. Unfortunately for Cincy, it came in a losing effort, as they fell to 1-4, which could be a death sentence for their season.
2. Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson (Last Week #7)
Lamar Jackson was dynamic, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns while adding 50 yards on the ground. This was one of those games where Jackson just left you scratching your head, wondering how in the world he could make the plays he did… He was in full video game mode!
1. Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes (Last Week #1)
While the interceptions are becoming a little bit of a concern, it is hard to see that as anything other than nitpicking with the way that Patrick Mahomes continues to lead the Chiefs to victory. He is simply the best. No way around it.
