By Week 15, NFL head coaches have laid their cards on the table. Some are pushing all the right buttons, leading their squads like master strategists, while others are fumbling through game plans and losing the locker room.
Let’s look around the NFL and rank them from worst to first!
Who are the top-ranking head coaches in the NFL after week 15?
32. New York Giants: Brian Daboll (Last Week #31)
Brian Daboll might need a vacation after this season. The Giants are now losers of nine straight, and even with his guys “trying their best,” it’s not enough. His job security is seriously being questioned at this point.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars: Doug Pederson (Last Week #30)
Doug Pederson must feel like he’s stuck in a bad sitcom. The same script every week: flashes of hope, costly mistakes, and a loss in the end.
30. Tennessee Titans: Brian Callahan (Last Week #28)

Can’t imagine this is how Brian Callahan thought his rookie head coaching NFL season would go. He has really been left struggling for answers.
29. New York Jets: Jeff Ulbrich (Last Week #32)
While it isn’t going to do him much good on the job market next year, credit to Jeff Ulbrich for finally getting a W with this embattled Jets squad.
28. New England Patriots: Jerod Mayo (Last Week #25)
The penalties, the lack of execution, and the stalled drives reflected a team that’s stuck in neutral. Mayo knows his squad isn’t seasoned enough to recover from mistakes, and that reality hit hard in this loss.
27. Las Vegas Raiders: Antonio Pierce (Last Week #29)
Antonio Pierce has the ability to get the locker room fired up, but the results aren’t there on the field. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him out in Sin City after one full season as an NFL head coach.

26. Cleveland Browns: Kevin Stefanski (Last Week #23)
Kevin Stefanski looks like a man who aged 10 years older this season. His offense is a turnover machine, his quarterback situation is dire, and he has not been able to catch a break this year.
25. Chicago Bears: Thomas Brown (Last Week #27)
I think that it is safe to say that Thomas Brown is not the guy long-term in Chicago, but it has to at least be a welcome change from Matt Eberflus. That said, it still hasn’t been particularly pretty since he’s taken over the reins.
24. Atlanta Falcons: Raheem Morris (Last Week #26)
Coach Raheem Morris needs to get this team to the NFL playoffs, or he might be updating his résumé in January despite the strong start to this year.
23. Carolina Panthers: Dave Canales (Last Week #21)
Dave Canales might’ve seen this coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier to stomach. The Cowboys punched his team in the mouth, and his guys never recovered.
22. Indianapolis Colts: Shane Steichen (Last Week #19)
Shane Steichen had to be pulling his hair out. The Colts had a golden opportunity to shake up the wild-card race, but miscues and missed chances cost them dearly.
21. Miami Dolphins: Mike McDaniel (Last Week #18)
Mike McDaniel looked frustrated, and who can blame him? His offense was a turnover machine, his star receiver was neutralized, and his patchwork O-line was outmatched. All in all, it was another tough week in a tough season.
20. Dallas Cowboys: Mike McCarthy (Last Week #24)
Coach McCarthy’s defense played inspired, his offense took care of business during their recent NFL game, and he didn’t let the Panthers’ underdog hype phase his squad. McCarthy knew this game was a must-win, and he didn’t let the foot off the gas.
19. San Francisco 49ers: Kyle Shanahan (Last Week #16)
It will be interesting to see what happens with Shanahan in San Fran, as the rumors are starting to heat up. The talent is there, but the execution has been a struggle this year.
18. New Orleans Saints: Darren Rizzi (Last Week #17)
Interim NFL coach Darren Rizzi had the guts to go for the win, and you have to respect it. His team fought back from a 17-0 hole and came within a two-point conversion of stealing it. Rizzi rolled the dice, but the football gods weren’t feeling generous.
17. Cincinnati Bengals: Zac Taylor (Last Week #22)
Zac Taylor’s got to love the resilience of this team, as they’ve fought hard as nails to keep their season alive for him.
16. Arizona Cardinals: Jonathan Gannon (Last Week #20)
Jonathan Gannon had his squad ready to roll, injuries be damned. His defense was flexible, his offense was methodical, and his team mercifully snapped a three-game skid.
15. Los Angeles Chargers: Jim Harbaugh (Last Week #6)
Harbaugh’s got a short week to fix things before Denver, and this loss should be a wake-up call. If coach Harbaugh wants his team to stay in the NFL playoff hunt, they need a quick, hard reset.
14. Seattle Seahawks: Mike Macdonald (Last Week #11)
Mike Macdonald’s first real taste of adversity hit hard. His team looked flat, his defense looked confused, and his backup QB was overwhelmed once he was thrust into action.
13. Washington Commanders: Dan Quinn (Last Week #15)
Dan Quinn’s squad is battle-hardened, but they’re also battle-weary. He knows this team can scrap and claw its way to victories, but the penalties and missed chances are the kind of mistakes that can sink playoff dreams.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Todd Bowles (Last Week #14)
Todd Bowles must’ve had the time of his life watching this unfold. His defense stifled the Chargers, his offense was unstoppable, and his team rolled to an easy win.
11. Houston Texans: DeMeco Ryans (Last Week #13)
It hasn’t been the easiest 2024 NFL season for Houston, but coach DeMeco Ryans has his guys playing inspired, gritty football, and they secured an AFC South-clinching win this week.
10. Buffalo Bills: Sean McDermott (Last Week #9)
It wasn’t pretty, but sometimes survival counts as a win. Still, Sean McDermott knows this defense needs to tighten up before the playoffs, or it’s going to be a fireworks show every week.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Tomlin (Last Week #3)
Mike Tomlin didn’t mince words: clinching a playoff spot didn’t matter when his team just got outclassed. He wanted a win, and they didn’t deliver.
8. Denver Broncos: Sean Payton (Last Week #10)
Payton’s job was to keep the wheels from falling off, and he did it. A short week ahead means no time to dwell on the ugly—just celebrate the fact that, for the first time in years, Denver’s NFL playoff hopes are alive and kicking with coach Payton at the helm.
7. Baltimore Ravens: John Harbaugh (Last Week #12)
John Harbaugh had his team prepped and hungry coming off the bye week to take care of a weaker opponent in the Giants.
6. Philadelphia Eagles: Nick Sirianni (Last Week #8)
Nick Sirianni seems to thrive in chaos. The week started with finger-pointing and rumors, and it ended with a decisive win. Sirianni kept his team focused, turned the noise into motivation, and got his offense back on track.
5. Green Bay Packers: Matt LaFleur (Last Week #7)
Matt LaFleur brought his squad to one of the loudest venues in football and turned it into Lambeau North West. His game plan was crisp, his team was prepared, and they rolled Seattle, notching another pivotal win.
4. Kansas City Chiefs: Andy Reid (Last Week #4)
Coach Reid’s team finally won a game that didn’t require last-second heroics, and their star NFL quarterback’s ankle scare turned out to be a false alarm. The man just keeps winning!
3. Los Angeles Rams: Sean McVay (Last Week #5)
Sean McVay pulled another rabbit out of his hat on Thursday Night Football and suddenly has his Rams back atop the NFC West.
2. Minnesota Vikings: Kevin O’Connell (Last Week #2)
Kevin O’Connell has established himself as one of the best young NFL coaches in the game. The work he’s done this season with Darnold and Co. has been extremely impressive. No shocker here to see him lead his Vikings to a smooth and easy W over the lowly Bears.
1. Detroit Lions: Dan Campbell (Last Week #1)
Dan Campbell had his guys fighting, biting kneecaps, and pulling out all the stops—onside kicks, trick plays, you name it—but they came up just short in one of the best games of the year.
