We don’t have official data, but something tells us we have never seen such a stunning amount of upsets just three weeks into an NFL season.
Several playoff hopefuls are toast, and some clubs that were supposed to vie for a top-10 pick look like Super Bowl contenders. Football is back indeed, baby!
With that said, let’s see where all 32 teams stack up in our week 4 power rankings.
Which NFL teams are battling for the top spot in this week’s rankings?
32. Tennessee Titans (29)
Can things be more cruel for Titans fans? Malik Willis returned to Music City — as a member of the Green Bay Packers — and handed his old team a third straight loss.
Willis outdueled Titans QB Will Levis — reminding Tennessee that they gave up on him too early without giving the kid a chance to prove himself.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (24)

We know Jaguars fans are used to a lot of losing, but this is truly rock bottom. A team with playoff aspirations is now 0-and-3 following a pathetic 47-10 road loss to the Buffalo Bills? Where was the urgency?
Don’t blame Trevor Lawrence. His defense slept through the night, and the O-line didn’t give him a chance to do anything. Is it crazy to suggest Bill Belichick as the net Jacksonville head coach?
30. Cincinnati Bengals (20)
That’s it for the Bengals. A Week 2 road loss to Kansas City was excusable, but home losses to the Patriots and Commanders? That’s how you kiss your season goodbye before the calendar flips to October.
Stick a fork in ‘em. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase cannot fix this mess of a team on their own.
29. New England Patriots (27)
The Patriots have now dropped two straight — the latest a humiliating loss to Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets on Thursday night.
The Jacoby Brissett-led offense mustered only three points in a 24-3 defeat. Head coach Jerod Mayo says Brissett is still the starter, but we’re sure that’ll change soon…
28. Carolina Panthers (32)
So maybe Bryce Young has been the problem this entire time? Andy Dalton went into Sin City and lit up a quality Las Vegas Raiders defense for 319 yards, three touchdowns, and no picks in a stunning 36-22 upset win.
Dalton also had a 300-yard game with two TDs in the only NFL game he started for the Panthers last year. If Dalton can play like a Pro Bowler, then maybe Young will be destined to go down as a bust in Carolina.
27. New York Giants (31)
In a battle of arguably football’s two worst starting quarterbacks, it was Daniel Jones and Big Blue who emerged victorious over Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns in the Dawg Pound.
Danny Times had 236 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no picks. Malik Nabers hauled in both of Jones’ TD passes, and the resilient front seven sacked Watson eight times.
The Giants have finally shown some life. Now let’s see if they can get back to .500 with the vulnerable Dallas Cowboys coming to town in Week 4.

26. Denver Broncos (30)
Bo Nix and the Bronco offense showed very little over their first two losses. So because football is funny, Nix goes into Tampa Bay and leads the Broncos to a stunning 26-7 road win over the Buccaneers.
216 passing yards, one rushing score, no turnovers, and zero sacks against a stingy Tampa defense. Don’t look now, but Vance Joseph’s defense has now allowed just 20 total points over the last two weeks. There’s some fight in Sean Payton’s group, after all.
25. Las Vegas Raiders (23)
Raiders fans might not like this placement, but there’s no justifying a humiliating loss AT HOME against the NFL team that was previously ranked 32nd on our list.
Gardner Minshew II followed up a tremendous Week 2 outing against the Baltimore Ravens with a dud against Carolina. Aidan O’Connell made his case to take over as the QB1 by going 9-of-12 for 82 yards and a touchdown.
24. Arizona Cardinals (22)
Sunday’s 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions felt like a major letdown. Maybe we got too excited about this offense following their 41-point explosion against the Los Angeles Rams.
Kyler Murray never got in sync and forced too many high-risk passes, and Arizona’s rush D was gashed for 187 yards on 43 carries. With a tough schedule looming, the Redbirds oughta take advantage of an inferior Washington Commanders team coming to town this Sunday.
23. Chicago Bears (21)
Caleb Williams’ 363 passing yards and two touchdowns look hot at first…until you realize he attempted 55 passes — not to mention those two back-breaking interceptions and four sacks.
The Bears defense is allowing just 19 points per game through three weeks. The Bears are 1-2. Good for Bears DC Eric Washington, but those efforts can’t keep going to waste by an ineffective Williams-led offense.
22. Indianapolis Colts (28)
The Colts saved their season by pulling out a sloppy 21-16 home win over the Bears. Good thing Jonathan Taylor turned in a vintage JT performance because Anthony Richardson was awful as a passer with 10 completions, no TDS, and two interceptions.
Indy won’t be in the playoff race for long if A-Rich can’t figure this out. For now, a win’s a win – and the Colts are only a game behind the Houston Texans for tops in the AFC South.
21. Los Angeles Rams (25)
In a battle of two brutally injury-ravaged NFL teams, the Rams barely outlasted the San Francisco 49ers with a thrilling 27-24 comeback victory.
Kyen Williams and Tutu Atwell answered the call for Matthew Stafford with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua sidelined. Joshua Karty’s late field goal secured the Rams’ first W of the season to avoid an 0-3 start.
There’s still some work to do, especially on offense. But the season is alive following an emotional victory against Sean McVay’s well-documented Kryptonite.
20. Cleveland Browns (18)
Seriously, at what point did the Browns give up on Deshaun Watson? Do they want a reminder about how Joe Flacco played last year? At what point does Jameis Winston get a look behind center?
Playing in the AFC North gauntlet, the Browns are really just waving the white flag if they keep playing Watson.
19. Miami Dolphins (13)
We don’t wanna hate too much on the Dolphins, but this is who they are. The team is helpless without Tua Tagovailoa — and it’s kind of ridiculous that they trusted Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle to carry the load without Tua.
The 1-2 Dolphins were no match for Seattle on Sunday. If they don’t figure out the QB situation without Tagovailoa quickly, this season will go off the rails.
18. Atlanta Falcons (17)
Ugh. This is just your typical Kirk Cousins slash Atlanta Falcons loss. The game was right there for the taking, but mind-numbing mistakes proved costly in an unsuccessful upset bid against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Atlanta went 2-and-4 in the red zone. Bijan Robinson couldn’t convert on 4th-and-inches with the game on the line, and the Falcons fell to 1-2 following another coulda-shoulda-woulda.
Raheem Morris’ D is giving this team every chance to win, but it’s time for Cousins and the star-studded offense to start doing their job.
17. Dallas Cowboys (10)
After 16 straight regular-season home wins, the Cowboys have now dropped back-to-back contests at Jerry World to begin the NFL season. And they’ve looked absolutely awful doing it.
One week after getting humiliated at home by the New Orleans Saints, Dallas lost 28-25 to Lamar Jackson and the visiting Baltimore Ravens. Don’t let the score fool you – the Cowboys were down by 22 before a 19-point outburst.
This just in: Jerry Jones’ idea of going “all-in” is blowing up in his face. Also, it would be nice if Mike Zimmer’s defense could get one stop and not make Dak Prescott do it all by himself! 29.7 points allowed per game through three weeks? All in, Jerry! All in the toilet!
16. Washington Commanders (26)
Are the Commanders legit? How about Jayden Daniels and the Commanders going into Cincinnati to stun Joe Burrow and the Bengals?
21 completions for 254 yards, two touchdowns, and a team-high 39 rushing scores and one TD. So far, Daniels looks miles better than the man drafted in front of him.
15. Los Angeles Chargers (15)
Justin Herbert leaving with an ankle injury and Derwin James getting suspended one game just made this an all-around awful week for the Bolts.
Jim Harbaugh’s group lost a very winnable slugfest in Pittsburgh to the Steelers. Yes, it could have been different if Herbert hadn’t left the game, but the vaunted Bolts offense had just 61 rushing yards on 20 carries. The D also made Justin Fields look like a Pro Bowler, which isn’t ideal…
We’ll learn a lot more about the 2-1 Chargers when they host the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
14. Baltimore Ravens (19)
There it is — your firm reminder that the Ravens are alive and well and in the Super Bowl race. Thank you very much!
The Ravens nearly coughed up a 22-point lead on the Dallas Cowboys, but Lamar Jackson iced up in crunch time to seal a heart-pounding 3-point victory. Jackson and Derrick Henry spearheaded a Baltimore rushing game that racked up 274 yards against a stingy Dallas defense to avoid a disastrous 0-3 start.
But a full 60 minutes will be necessary if they’re to take down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on prime-time this Sunday.
13. San Francisco 49ers (4)
That was a brutal and inexcusable loss to the Rams, yes. But how many NFL teams can win without three of their top four offensive weapons again? We refuse to hit the panic button on these 49ers, who were also 1-2 two years ago before another run to the NFC Championship. A path to 3-2 is easy, with the Patriots and Cardinals next on the schedule.
12. New Orleans Saints (7)
The NFL’s No. 1 offense heading into week 3 only mustered 12 points in a disappointing showing against the Eagles. The D imploded in the fourth quarter after three near-perfect quarters to open the game.
A frustrating loss, yes. But the Saints can’t panic yet. Bad games happen to everyone. Let’s see how they respond in Atlanta this week.
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6)
Well, that was humiliating. Baker Mayfield returned to his 2022 Carolina Panthers form, and the Bucs D slept through the day as rookie Bo Nix and the Broncos handed Tampa their first loss of this NFL season.
What can we say? This team was hot and cold last year, too. Turn the page and get ready for the Eagles in Week 4.
10. New York Jets (12)
Their two wins have come against lousy Titans and Patriots teams, yes. But Aaron Rodgers looks like his old self again, and he’s providing quality QB play that the Jets haven’t seen since 2015 Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The Dolphins look like toast without Tua Tagovailoa, so the AFC East feels like it’s a race between the Jets and Bills.
9. Green Bay Packers (11)
Matt LaFleur can coach! 2-0 with backup QB Malik Willis, who suddenly looks like a capable starting quarterback after being poorly utilized during his two years with the Tennessee Titans.
Willis came into Tennessee and led the Cheeseheads to a win over the team that traded him just a month ago. Revenge is sweet, but 2-and-1 is even sweeter for a team that’s about to get Jordan Love back.
8. Houston Texans (2)
That was an ugly, stinky, gross, and disgusting effort in Minnesota. The Texans did nothing right in a brutal 34-7 road loss to the Vikings in a battle of 2-and-0 teams. Someone had to lose, and it was Houston in embarrassing fashion.
Well, even the best teams have an unexpected stinker. The Texans need to turn the page and get ready for a visit from Trevor Lawrence and the unraveling Jags.
7. Philadelphia Eagles (9)
Nick Sirianni’s play-calling was absolutely awful, but the Eagles narrowly escaped the Caesars Superdome with a thrilling 15-12 victory over Derek Carr’s Saints.
They did it with AJ Brown on the sidelines and without DeVonta Smith for most of the fourth quarter during their NLF game. Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley saved the day to ensure a tremendous defensive effort by Vic Fangio’s squad did not go to waste.
6. Seattle Seahawks (16)
The Seahawks have enjoyed a soft schedule, yes. But Pete Carroll’s old squad had a strange habit of playing down to inferior opponents, so full marks to rookie head coach Mike Macdonald for already maximizing this team’s potential.
Seattle’s D is leading the way, allowing only 14.3 points per game thus far. Oh, and they’re two games clear of their three-division rivals for tops in the NFC West. You’ll wanna take these guys even more seriously if they upset the Lions in Motor City next week.
5. Minnesota Vikings (14)
Consider us SOLD on these Vikings. Proving their Week 2 upset of the 49ers was no fluke, the Vikings throttled a bonafide Super Bowl contender in the Houston Texans to improve to 3-0.
Sam Darnold has eight touchdowns against two picks in three weeks. A reminder that his career-high in touchdowns is 19. And to think superstar tight end TJ Hockenson hasn’t played a snap yet…
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (8)
Justin Fields had his best game as a Steeler, leading the team to another defensive slugfest of a victory over Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers.
Fields still have room for improvement as a passer, but he’s doing his part as a game manager with Russell Wilson sidelined. The Steelers can win with the old-fashioned formula of running the ball with a hard-hitting defense. It’s all working.
3. Detroit Lions (5)
The Lions got back to basics after a frustrating Week 2 home loss to Tampa Bay, grinding out a 20-13 road win over Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. Now, that’s the NFL game we expected from Dan Campbell’s group.
Get your popcorn ready, with the Lions next hosting the 3-0 Seahawks on “Monday Night Football.” This would be a good week for Jared Goff to put together his first real-good performance of the season.
2. Buffalo Bills (3)
The Bills made a statement by putting the death blow in Jacksonville in front of a boisterous Buffalo crowd on Monday night. 3-0 without Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Mitch Morse, Tre’Davious White, Jordan Poyer, Leonard Floyd and Micah Hyde. Sean McDermott, the haters have been silenced!
With the way they’re playing on both sides of the ball, it’s not too soon to wonder if this is the Bills year at long last.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (1)
To be No. 1, you gotta beat No. 1. The Falcons came close, but no cigar as the Chiefs narrowly escaped Atlanta with a five-point victory.
The Chiefs offense has been sloppy these last two weeks, but you just gotta trust that they’ll figure it out. Don’t forget the receiving corps that Patrick Mahomes won a title with last year.
We’ll see if KC can make it 4-0 when they visit the Chargers on Sunday.
