As per usual, Week 3 was a busy week for the NFL’s signal callers. There were some big games—and some blunders.
Let’s take a look around the league and rank all 32 NFL teams starting quarterbacks after Week 3.
32. New York Jets Zach Wilson (Last Week #32)
It seems more than likely that at this point, Zach Wilson will remain at the bottom of the rankings until the Jets try someone else at quarterback. The offense doesn’t trust him and he still looks incapable of doing even the basics right in New York’s relatively simple offense.
31. New Orleans Saints Jameis Winston (Last Week N/A)
Jameis Winston had a tough season debut playing and admittedly minor role in his team’s fourth-quarter collapse. The play calls got extremely conservative once Carr went down though and he did put the Saints in position to take the game back with what should’ve been a game-winning field goal drive as time expired.
30. Denver Broncos Russell Wilson (Last Week #25)

Yes, Russell Wilson went for 306 and a touchdown to one interception, but he still has to drop after that humiliating loss to the Dolphins.
No, he wasn’t playing defense, but his team clearly doesn’t believe in him and all of his statistical contributions were essentially in garbage time against a backed-off defense.
29. Atlanta Falcons Desmond Ridder (Last Week #21)
Desmond Ridder protected the ball on Sunday, but that is just about the only nice one can say about his otherwise uninspiring performance at home against Detroit.
28. Chicago Bears Justin Fields (Last Week #23)
Justin Fields looks shockingly lost in the Bears offense this year. He’s not running the ball that often or that efficiently and the passing numbers are putrid.
The Chiefs defense is tough, but 99 yards and one touchdown to one interception on 11 completions? Brutal.
27. Tennessee Titans Ryan Tannehill (Last Week #27)
It is starting to look like Ryan Tannehill’s time may be up in Tennessee. The veteran quarterback really struggled this week completing just 52% of his passes for a measly 104 yards in a blowout loss to the Browns.
26. New York Giants Daniel Jones (Last Week #18)
Daniel Jones was bad this week…. But then again, so are most of the teams that face up against the Niners defense.
That said, he has to find a way to do more than 22 completions for 137 yards and one interception.
25. New England Patriots Mac Jones (Last Week # 30)
Mac Jones and the Pats secured a season-saving win against the Jets, but New England’s quarterback doesn’t deserve much of the credit. 15 for 29 for just over 200 yards is a far cry from what he’ll need to do to get this team back in serious playoff contention.
24. Washington Commanders Sam Howell (Last Week #20)
Week 3 was not Sam Howell’s week… The Commanders’ young quarterback was seeing ghosts against a tough Bills defense, surrendering four interceptions in an embarrassing loss.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers Kenny Pickett (Last Week #19)
Kenny Pickett delivered a big win against the Raiders and looked more like the guy we saw down the stretch of the 2022 season than early this year, going for 235 yards and two touchdowns. His performance was enough to move him up five spots.
22. Las Vegas Raiders Jimmy Garoppolo (Last Week #26)
Extra credit for gutting out what looked to be a gnarly ankle injury, but Jimmy Garoppolo needs to take care of the football otherwise he is going to continue to drop. Three picks isn’t going to cut it.
21. Arizona Cardinals Joshua Dobbs (Last Week #28)
Joshua Dobbs moved up six slots this week delivering a big win against the Dallas Cowboys. His passing numbers were obviously not huge, but he threw one touchdown, managed the game extremely well, and contributed a few key runs with his legs for 55 total yards.
20. Indianapolis Colts Garnder Minshew (Last Week #30)
Week 3 was a big one for Gardner Minshew, who dinked and dunked and led his team all the way to an overtime victory against the Ravens.
19. Cleveland Browns Deshaun Watson (Last Week #15)
Deshaun Watson had his best game as a Brown, completing 27 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns, moving up five spots in the rankings.
18. Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott (Last Week #9)
It was a bad, bad week for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, who got embarrassed by the Arizona Cardinals in the big Week 3 shocker.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars Trevor Lawrence (Last Week #11)
Trevor Lawrence looked a little bit better on the tape in Week 3, but with a 20-point loss to the Texans, he has to slide a couple of spots. Most of his statistical contributions appear empty with that context.
16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Baker Mayfield (Last Week #10)
Baker drops a little this week after struggling against a dominant Eagles defense. Keep an eye on Mayfield, one or two more stinkers and wight see him back towards the bottom of the rankings.
15. Houston Texans CJ Stroud (Last Week #24)
CJ Stroud looked like a seasoned pro in this one completing 66.7% of his passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions as his Texans marched all over the Jags, 37-17.
14. Carolina Panthers Andy Dalton (Last Week N/A)
Big Week for Andy Dalton after not being listed last week, filling in for the injured Bryce Young. The journeyman through the ball nearly 60 times, for 361 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers lost, but that was far and away the most explosive their offense has looked all year.
13. Minnesota Vikings Kirk Cousins (Last Week #14)
Cousins looked good against the Packers, going for 367 yards and three touchdowns to one interception. If only Kirk and the Vikings could’ve finished this one off it would been a great week for him!
12. Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson (Last Week #4)
Tough week for Lamar falling from four to 12, but when you blow a game to Garnder Minshew and the Colts, even early season, that will happen. The only saving grace for him this week was his big rushing output: 101 yards and two touchdowns.
11. Green Bay Packers Jordan Love (Last Week #22)
Man, Jordan Love is fortunate he had that big fourth quarter otherwise all people would be talking about was how much the Packers offense struggled all day. Instead, here we are looking at Love moving up a slot after leading Green Bay to a clutch fourth-quarter comeback like his predecessors.
10. Los Angeles Rams Matt Stafford (Last Week #7)
While Matt Stafford was certainly slinging it around the gridiron Monday Night, the accuracy wasn’t there, causing him to slide from six to 10.
9. Detroit Lions Jared Goff (Last Week #8)
Goff fell slightly this week despite his team winning because of some big moves across the league by other QBs and the lesser role he seemed to play in this one compared to previous games. All things considered, 243 yards and a touchdown through the air and the ground is a solid afternoon.
8. Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow (Last Week #12)
Joe Burrow still doesn’t look 100% like himself playing on that injured calf, but we have to get him some brownie points for playing through it and getting a big win on Monday Night Football that more or less saves their season.
7. Seattle Seahawks Geno Smith (Last Week #13)
Geno Smith had a solid week jumping from 11 to 7, after leading Seattle to a 37-27 win over Carolina, chipping in 296 passing yards and a touchdown.
6. San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy (Last Week #6)
All Brock Purdy and the Niners do is win—and they do so emphatically. The San Francisco signal caller had his biggest passing game of the year with 25 completions for 310 yards and two touchdowns in a convincing 30-12 win over the Giants.
5. Los Angeles Chargers Justin Herbert (Last Week #17)
Week 3 was a big jump for Justin Herbert, who got his team in the win column for the first time all season and had a monster afternoon completing 40 of 47 attempts for three touchdowns and a league-best 405 yards.
4. Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts (Last Week #2)
Jalen Hurts gets a slight drop this week after throwing two careless interceptions against the Bucs in a game that, frankly, was never even close. He is still clearly among the tops in the game, especially factoring in his insane efficiency on third and fourth down.
3. Buffalo Bills Josh Allen (Last Week #3)
Talk about a get-right week! Josh Allen and the Bills thumped the Commanders 37 to 3 and Allen is starting to look more and more like the perennial MVP candidate we know him to be scoring both with his legs and his arm.
2. Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes (Last Week #1)
It speaks to how great Patrick Mahomes is that he can win 41 to 10, throw for 272 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions, and no one bats an eye. It is unfair to have him drop after a performance like that, but an exception had to be made this week.
1. Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa (Last Week #5)
There were a lot of questions heading into the season about what Tua would look like after the series of head injuries he sustained last year, but he’s answered all of his critics and then some. His Dolphins just dropped a 70-spot on the Dolphins and he went 23 of 26 for 309 yards and four touchdowns.
Don’t look now, but Tagovailoa is an early leader in the clubhouse for MVP.
