Some starting quarterbacks this year have been lights-out, carrying their NFL teams with MVP-caliber performances. In contrast, others have barely managed to stay afloat, struggle with accurate decision-making, or have just been plain wrong.
Let’s break down who’s proving their worth, slipping, and where your team’s QB lands in this season’s pecking order.
Who are the top-ranking quarterbacks in the NFL after week 8 of games?
32. New Orleans Saints: Spencer Rattler (Last Week #31)
Spencer Rattler has really struggled since being forced into action following the injury to Derek Carr. He completed just 12 of 24 passes for 156 yards and couldn’t even get the Saints into the red zone once in the afternoon. He was eventually benched for the little-known Jake Haener.
31. New York Giants: Daniel Jones (Last Week #30)
You know it isn’t good when all the storylines about your starting quarterback heading into the game are about not having a “quick hook.” Needless to say, the Daniel Jones era is all but over in New York.
30. Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young (Not Ranked)

With Andy Dalton getting injured last week, Bryce Young found himself back in the starting lineup, and while it wasn’t great, there were some signs of life. He finished completing 24 of 37 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns, albeit with two picks as well.
29. New England Patriots: Drake Maye (Last Week #18)
Tough afternoon for Drake Maye, who completed just three passes before he left with an injury.
28. New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers (Last Week #22)
Aaron Rodgers had some solid moments, connecting with Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams, but he couldn’t get it done when it mattered most. He went 17-of-28 for 233 yards with two touchdowns, but that missed deep shot on the final drive sealed the Jets’ fate.
27. Tennessee Titans: Mason Rudolph (Last Week #26)
Mason Rudolph was under pressure all day but managed to throw for 266 yards and a couple of scores, though he surrendered two picks in the process.

26. Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith (Last Week #14)
Geno Smith had a challenging day, going 21-of-29 for 212 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. Two botched snaps, one resulting in a fumble and another leading to a turnover on downs at the goal line, stalled any momentum Seattle could muster.
25. Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Richardson (Last Week #25)
Anthony Richardson had a rough day, going 10-of-32 for 175 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was sacked five times and clearly struggled under pressure, but his 69-yard connection with Josh Downs showed flashes of his potential.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence (Last Week #23)
Trevor Lawrence has the talent, as evidenced by his 21-for-32, one-touchdown stat line, but he’ll need to play cleaner football to give Jacksonville a chance to turn things around, as his turnovers were back-breaking.
23. Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott (Last Week #24)
Sunday Night Football was not pretty for Dak Prescott, who did his typical garbage-time shenanigans, putting up numbers only once the game was well out of hand.
22. Las Vegas Raiders: Gardner Minshew (Not Ranked)
Gardner Minshew showed grit, completing 24 of 30 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns, but he had limited support from the run game and couldn’t overcome a strong Chiefs defense.
21. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa (Not Ranked)
Tua Tagovailoa’s return was promising, even if the result wasn’t. He threw for 234 yards and completed 28-of-38 passes, showing no signs of rust and making some impressive throws in the process.
20. Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams (Last Week #11)
Caleb Williams struggled, completing only 10 of 24 passes for 131 yards, but pieced together an epic last drive that many thought would be the game-winner. If only Jayden Daniels didn’t exist…
19. Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford (Last Week #21)
Matthew Stafford delivered an impressive performance, throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns. He must be pretty happy to see the return of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
18. Denver Broncos: Bo Nix (Last Week #17)
Bo Nix had his best performance as a rookie, throwing for 284 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score in a winning effort, no less.
17. Minnesota Vikings: Sam Darnold (Last Week #9)
Sam Darnold had a strong start, completing eight consecutive passes in two scoring drives, but cooled off significantly after that. All in all, he had a nice outing, throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns despite constant pressure from the Rams’ defense.
16. Atlanta Falcons: Kirk Cousins (Last Week #20)
Kirk Cousins delivered a composed and efficient performance, throwing for 276 yards and four touchdowns, hitting big plays when the Falcons needed them. Great Week 8 for Kirk!
15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Russell Wilson (Last Week #16)
Russell Wilson has looked impressive in his first two starts for the Steelers. Perhaps his experience in Denver humbled him, and now he’s ready to deliver that second act after all.
14. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow (Last Week #6)
Joe Burrow had moments of brilliance, especially on that opening drive — a cool 70-yard march that looked like classic Burrow. But after that, it was an uphill battle. He finished the game going 26-of-37 for 234 yards, a touchdown, and a pick — solid numbers on paper, but it didn’t materialize into anything meaningful.
13. Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray (Last Week #15)
Kyler Murray was as cool as it gets. Down by two scores in the fourth? No problem. Murray went 26-of-36 for 307 yards with two touchdowns, weaving around defenders and keeping plays alive with his legs.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield (Last Week #7)
Baker Mayfield had a strong afternoon with 330 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Cade Otton for two of those scores, but his two interceptions were costly.
11. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love (Last Week #4)
Jordan Love’s exit due to a groin injury raised major concerns, but backup Malik Willis came in and rose to the occasion. Willis was clutch, completing 4 of 5 passes for 56 yards, including a 51-yard bomb to Jayden Reed that set up the game-winning field goal.
10. Cleveland Browns: Jameis Winston (Not Ranked)
Jameis Winston was way more than a spark plug for the Browns this week. In his first start in years, he threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns, including a game-winning 38-yard bomb to Cedric Tillman.
9. Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud (Last Week #12)
C.J. Stroud rebounded brilliantly from a tough outing last week, throwing for 285 yards and a touchdown. His calm decision-making kept the Texans’ offense rolling, and he spread the ball effectively, showing growth in his ability to control the game with the best of them.
8. San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy (Last Week #19)
Brock Purdy looked great this week on Sunday Night Football, doing it both with his legs and his arm all night en route to a convincing win for the 49ers.
7. Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts (Last Week #8)
Don’t look now, Jalen Hurts haters, but he is looking like he is all the way back. He was accurate, completing 16 of 20 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown, and added three touchdowns on the ground.
6. Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert (Last Week #10)
Justin Herbert was back in full force, amassing 328 total yards and throwing two touchdowns, both to rookie Ladd McConkey and making some plays with his legs as well, as the Chargers dominated the Saints.
5. Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen (Last Week #5)
Despite throwing his first interception of the season, Josh Allen had a near-flawless day, throwing for 283 yards and two touchdowns while adding 48 yards on the ground.
4. Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson (Last Week #1)
Lamar Jackson came to play, racking up 289 yards and two TDs with some trademark scrambles and off-schedule throws that kept drives alive, but unfortunately, his Ravens ended up coming up just short.
3. Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels (Last Week #13)
Jayden Daniels was the hero of the day, throwing for 326 yards and adding 52 rushing yards, capped by a miraculous 52-yard Hail Mary to Noah Brown as time expired. He is looking as legit as it gets.
2. Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes (Last Week #3)
No shocker here, but Patrick Mahomes was sharp, passing for 262 yards and two touchdowns while becoming the fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 30,000 yards.
1. Detroit Lions: Jared Goff (Last Week #2)
Jared Goff didn’t need to air it out this week with the way that the defense and special teams balled out all day. He threw for only 85 yards but made the most of his opportunities, going 12-for-15 with three touchdowns.
