Week 8 was a big one for the NFL quarterbacks. We had some debuts, some injuries, and some shocking performances. Let’s take a peak around the league and rank every team’s QB.
32. New York Giants Tommy Devito (Last Week N/A)
Unfortunately, the hometown kid didn’t manage to get it done in relief of the injured Tyrod Taylor this Sunday against the Jets. Tough to do worse than -1 passing yards, but in his defense, the Giants didn’t give him any real chances to throw the ball downfield.
31. Atlanta Falcons Desmond Ridder (Last Week #30)
It is honestly a little surprising that it took this long, but the Falcons finally ran out of patience with Desmond Ridder and benched him at the half. Based on how Taylor Heinicke looked, Ridder may be riding pine for the foreseeable future.
30. Green Bay Packers Jordan Love (Last Week #32)
Jordan Love is hard to watch. The entire Packers offense looks disorganized and is turning the ball over a very troubling rate.

29. Las Vegas Raiders Jimmy Garoppolo (Last Week N/A)
Back from injury and more of the same from Jimmy G and the Raiders offense. Las Vegas hasn’t been able to find any rhythm and Garoppolo is undoubtedly part of the issue. He has been far too hesitant to stretch the field, often defaulting to check-downs when he doesn’t have to.
And after that 10/21, 126-yard, one interception performance against the Lions, things are looking pretty dire in Sin City.
28. Arizona Cardinals Joshua Dobbs (Last Week #31)
Joshua Dobbs is a hard-nosed player, but not a starting-caliber NFL QB. Kyler’s stand-in tossed another two interceptions this weekend, in route to another loss for Arizona.
27. Chicago Bears Tyson Bagent (Last Week #18)
Tyson Bagent came back down to earth this week against the Chargers on Sunday Night Football. Chicago’s rookie completed 25 of 37 passes for 232 yards and no touchdowns while tossing two interceptions.
26. Cleveland Browns PJ Walker (Last Week #27)
The PJ Walker experience is starting to become fairly predictable. He makes a couple of impressive plays, but struggles to take care of the football. This week was more of the same, as his two turnovers ended up costing the Browns a potential win against Seattle.
25. New England Patriots Mac Jones (Last Week #24)
While Mac Jones wasn’t nearly as good as he was the week prior against Buffalo, New England’s embattled quarterback also didn’t look as terrible as he has most of the season. He completed 19 of 29 against a decent Miami defense for 161 yards and two touchdowns to one interception.
24. New York Jets Zach Wilson (Last Week #22)
Once again, Zach Wilson managed to just enough to complement a strong defensive performance and get the Jets the win. This one was particularly shocking though because of how bad he looked early—and how last minute the comeback effort was.
23. Carolina Panthers Bryce Young (Last Week #19)
Would you look at that! Bryce Young finally got a win. Though—to be honest, he didn’t actually play that great in this one. The Panthers rookie completed just 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and a score, but he deserves credit for protecting the football and enduring six sacks on the afternoon.
22. San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy (Last Week #12)
Overall, Brock Purdy had a solid showing on Monday Night Football, albeit in a loss, completing 21 of 30 passes for 272 yards and a Brock Purdy made a few impressive plays on Sunday, but the interceptions are starting to become a serious concern for the 49ers signal caller.. Unfortunately, he also threw two costly interceptions, including one on their final series of the game, when San Francisco was trying to mount a game-winning drive.
21. Los Angeles Rams Matt Stafford (Last Week #17)
Week 8 was probably Matt Stafford’s worst game of the year. The Rams looked completely overmatched by the Dallas defense and Stafford was held under 170 yards passing.
20. Houston Texans C.J. Stroud (Last Week #16)
This was a quiet week for C.J. Stroud coming off the bye. He was held to just 140 yards and no touchdowns by what’s been a weak Panthers defense through eight weeks.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Baker Mayfield (Last Week #28)
While Tampa Bay continues to unravel, Baker has actually played okay football. Unfortunately, the counting numbers feel empty with how disjointed the offense looks—and, frankly, how unproductive it ultimately is.
18. Denver Broncos Russell Wilson (Last Week #26)
Painful as it is to admit, Russell Wilson actually played well this week against the Chiefs. He was gutsy, running the ball up the middle on a couple of key short-yardage conversion opportunities and managed to throw three passing touchdowns despite having just 12 completions and 114 yards as Denver capitalized on a few critical Chiefs turnovers.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers Kenny Pickett (Last Week #14)
After a decent start to the afternoon, Kenny Pickett unfortunately left the game with another injury. Durability is starting to become a serious concern for Pittsburgh’s young quarterback.
16. New Orleans Saints Derek Carr (Last Week #21)
Alright, Derek Carr and the Saints are finally starting to put some points on the board. Carr’s attempts were down this week from their previously astronomical levels, but he was way more efficient, completing 29 of 27 for 310 yards and two scores.
15. Indianapolis Colts Gardner Minshew (Last Week #15)
Here we go again with the Gardner Minshew experience. The Colts QB was up and down all game, completing 23 of 41 for 213 yards and two scores to one interception. Not enough to make one believe he’s a franchise QB, but another serviceable performance.
14. Tennessee Titans Will Levis (Last Week N/A)
What a debut performance from Will Levis. Titans fans have to be feeling great after seeing their rookie QB toss four touchdowns in a big win against the Falcons.
13. Washington Commanders Sam Howell (Last Week #25)
After a terrible showing against the Giants, Sam Howell bounced back in a big way this week, delivering one of the top performances around the league and nearly upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles.
Howell completed 39 of 52 attempts for 397 yards and four touchdowns to just one interception.
12. Seattle Seahawks Geno Smith (Last Week #10)
Geno Smith needs to start being a little bit more careful with the ball again. The Seattle quarterback is starting to get a little bit reckless and his interceptions almost spoiled an otherwise good performance—and more importantly, nearly cost him and his team the game.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars Trevor Lawrence (Last Week #13)
Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are rolling now, having won their fifth straight and moving to six and two. The former Clemson star played well this week, completing 24 of 32 for 292 yards and one touchdown to one interception.
10. Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes (Last Week #3)
Mahomes looks a little bit off this week as he was reportedly battling the flu, but he deserves credit for the way he tried to rally Kansas City against an inspired Denver side. Had Skyy Moore been able to hang onto that would-be touchdown strike, he may have very well led the Chiefs to a comeback victory.
9. Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott (Last Week #11)
Dak absolutely lit up the Rams defense this week in what was far and away his best showing of the year. Prescott went 25 for 31 for 304 yards and four touchdowns and one INT, good enough for a 133.7 rating.
8. Los Angeles Chargers Justin Herbert (Last Week #9)
That was the Justin Herbert we’ve been waiting to see all season. Granted, it came against a dismal Bears D, but 31 for 40 for 298 yards and three touchdowns shouldn’t be discounted no matter who it is against.
7. Detroit Lions Jared Goff (Last Week #6)
After a terrible showing against the Ravens, Jared Goff bounced back nicely on Monday Night Football against an admittedly terrible Raiders defense. Detroit’s QB went 26 for 37 for 272 yards and one touchdown to one interception.
6. Minnesota Vikings Kirk Cousins (Last Week #7)
Kirk Cousins played another great game this week, completing 23 of 31 passes for 274 yards and two scores. Unfortunately, it looks like just as the Vikings were turning it around, Kirk’s season may be coming to an abrupt close with an Achilles injury.
5. Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow (Last Week #8)
Now that he has finally taken a week off thanks to the Bengals’ bye week, Joe Burrow might have gotten a chance to let that calf heal up a bit. And you know what? He’ll need it next week as Cinci heads out west to face the 49ers on their home turf.
4. Buffalo Bills Josh Allen (Last Week #5)
Buffalo still looks a little out of sorts, but Josh Allen absolutely balled out this week on Thursday Night Football, making plays with his arm and his legs, helping the Bills secure a critical victory over the Buccaneers.
3. Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson (Last Week #3)
Lamar wasn’t asked to do much this week as the Ravens beat up on a bad Cardinals team, but the former MVP did exactly what he needed to do to secure the W, completing 18 of 27 for 157 a score.
2. Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa (Last Week #4)
Tua had himself a great outing this week against the lowly Patriots. The Dolphins signal caller completed 30 of 45 for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Miami was able to shift into cruise control early in this one.
1. Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts (Last Week #2)
Jalen Hurts is one tough guy. He played another great game despite being apparently hobbled throughout the contest.
He and A.J. Brown did it again, connecting eight times for 130 yards and two scores.
