The NFL season is progressing along at a rapid rate. A couple of teams have already fired their coaches meanwhile some are making their playoff push. Let’s take a look around the NFL and rank every team’s head coach.
32. Carolina Panthers Chris Tabor (Last Week N/A)
Well, it isn’t entirely fair to leave Tabor in the last slot after his debut performance, especially considering the decent fight they put up against the Bucs on Sunday, but when you are 1-11 and coming off a loss, we have to keep you in the cellar.
31. Washington Commanders Ron Rivera (Last Week #28)
Washington was embarrassed again this week—and you have to think that Ron Rivera’s seat is starting to feel mighty hot. This team has completely collapsed under his watch in the second half of this season.
30. New England Patriots Bill Belichick (Last Week #29)
It is almost undeniable at this point that Bill Belichick has leaned fully into the tank, his Patriots became the first team in 11 years to lose when rushing for at least 150 yards and holding their opponent to 10 points or less. There has to have been intent, it is the only way to explain the loss.

29. New York Jets Robert Saleh (Last Week #31)
Another week has come and gone and the season continues to be a complete nightmare for Robert Saleh. The Jets head coach is just grasping at straws with the offense at this point—it is a miracle that the defense is still showing up to work at all.
28. Los Angeles Chargers Brandon Staley (Last Week #30)
The Chargers may have won this week, but it was not a particularly inspiring W.
L.A. scored just six points, but it is hard to even give Staley credit for that with how mediocre they looked against a terrible Patriots team.
27. BYE Chicago Bears Matt Eberflus (Last Week #27)
Matt Eberflus stayed put this week with his Bears on the bye. The Chicago’s head coach has done little to inspired the confidence of the fan this year and he may very well be out at the end of the season regardless of how the team finishes at this point.
26. Tennessee Titans Mike Vrabel (Last Week #23)
The Titans fought hard this week essentially facing elimination in their matchup with the Colts. Unfortunately for the Tennessee Faithful, Vrabel was outdueled by Shane Steichen and his team lost in overtime.
25. New Orleans Saints Dennis Allen (Last Week #22)
It has been a tough year for Dennis Allen down in NOLA, as his team has been ravaged with injuries—including another the Derek Carr this week.
That said, Dennis Allen is a far cry from the standard of head coach that Sean Payton set in New Orleans for all those years.
24. BYE New York Giants Brian Daboll (Last Week #24)
Brian Daboll stayed put at 24 with his team on the bye this week. His G-Men will have a tough match-up next week hosting a red-hot Packers team.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Todd Bowles (Last Week #25)
Things have not gone well for Todd Bowles this year in Tampa Bay, but at least the struggling head coach was able to hold it down against the worst team in the league!
22. Arizona Cardinals Jonathan Gannon (Last Week #26)
Jonathan Gannon and the Arizona Cardinals got back in the win column this week with a heartening performance against a Steelers side that looked like a surefire playoff team this year.
21. Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll (Last Week #20)
Pete Carroll needs to get his team back in the win column in a bad way. The way things are trending, they may end up missing out on what looked like a surefire playoff berth.
20. BYE Las Vegas Raiders Antonio Pierce (Last Week #19)
Antonio Pierce got bumped back one slot this week while his team was on bye. He’ll have a tough matchup against a motivated Vikings team trying to sneak into the playoffs.
19. Atlanta Falcons Arthur Smith (Last Week #17)
It is crazy that Arthur Smith’s Falcons may end up hosting a playoff game with how they’ve played. Their win against the Jets was almost as unconvincing as the Chargers over New England.
Smith has to find a way to get this offense moving in the right direction if he wants his team to stand a chance in a potential playoff game.
18. Cleveland Browns Kevin Stefanski (Last Week #16)
Kevin Stefanski has no doubt been put in a challenging situation with all of the injuries in Cleveland, but he really mismanaged the game down the stretch against the Rams and let Los Angeles run away with it.
17. BYE Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott (Last Week #18)
With Miami winning again this week, it looks like Sean McDermott’s chances of winning the AFC East have all but vanished. He’ll need to get this team playing winning football straight off the bat in Week 14 or their season may end unceremoniously.
16. BYE Minnesota Vikings Kevin O'Connell (Last Week #15)
Kevin O’Connell had a chance to regroup this week with his team on the bye following their humiliating loss to the Bears. The young head coach will need to get the most out of his team in Week 14 against the Raiders with his season on the line.
15. Cincinnati Bengals Zac Taylor (Last Week #21)
Zac Taylor deserves a ton of credit for the performance he got out of his Bengals this week. Jake Browning looked great and they were able to run football far better than they had of late.
14. Denver Broncos Sean Payton (Last Week #8)
Sean Payton’s win streak came to the end this week at the hands of C.J. Stroud and the Texans. He has still done a heck of a job with this Denver team, but the narrative may fade if they don’t finish what they started and sneak into the postseason.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin (Last Week #9)
Once again, Mike Tomlin’s Steelers have come up short against lesser competition. Pittsburgh played down to the Cardinals and may have cost themselves a shot at the postseason.
12. Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Pederson (Last Week #11)
Doug Pederson continues to prove to folks that he is among the best coaches in the league. The Jaguars are starting to look like a complete team.
That said, he may end up with his work cut out for him over the next couple of weeks if Trevor Lawrence’s injury is as serious as they think it is.
11. Green Bay Packers Matt LaFleur (Last Week #14)
Matt LaFleur has officially righted the ship in Green Bay. His Packers have won yet another game—with their young quarterback again looking like a bonafide star to boot! He may very well lead the Packers right through the backdoor to a playoff berth.
10. Indianapolis Colts Shane Steichen (Last Week #10)
Once again, Shane Steichen has coached a fantastic game. It is a wonder that he has been able to get this young Colts team in the playoff discussion, especially after the injury to Anthony Richardson.
9. Los Angeles Rams Sean McVay (Last Week #13)
Sean McVay had the offense absolutely humming this week against a tough Browns defense. His ability to scheme guys open and call dynamic plays is nearly unmatched.
8. Houston Texans DeMeco Ryans (Last Week #12)
Houston has come together really nicely under DeMeco Ryans. The Texans have started playing impressive complementary football and Ryans may well lead them to the playoffs this year.
7. Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid (Last Week #3)
Andy Reid’s offense was uncharacteristically out of tune this week. Their drives weren’t just disjointed, they received a couple of unnecessary penalties.
6. Detroit Lions Dan Campbell (Last Week #7)
Dan Campbell did well to get his Lions team motivated for a bounce-back win against the Saints. Detroit had another extremely impressive offensive performance, but they will need to get more out of the defense if Campbell wants them to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
5. Philadelphia Eagles Nick Sirianni (Last Week #1)
There was kind of this sense around the Eagles that the team was running out of steam lately. They’ve had a number of big, emotional victories that seemed to be wearing on them. The performance against San Fran was disappointing, but Sirianni has proven he’s as good as the come coaching-wise.
4. BYE Baltimore Ravens John Harbaugh (Last Week #4)
John Harbaugh stayed put this week with the Ravens on the bye. He isn’t a perfect coach, but he’s certainly on the short list of guys you would want to lead your organization. It will be fascinating to see what he can do with this Ravens team down the stretch of the season.
3. Miami Dolphins Mike McDaniel (Last Week #8)
Mike McDaniel led the Dolphins to another easy win this week. His offense marched all over the Commanders all game long.
2. Dallas Cowboys Mike McCarthy (Last Week #5)
I guess at some point we are going to have to start giving Mike McCarthy some more credit. Now that the Cowboys have actually beaten another potential playoff team in the Seahawks the success he’s had this year can’t be denied.
1. San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan (Last Week #2)
With that emphatic victory over the Eagles, there is a legitimate case to be made for Kyle Shanahan to be coach of the year. Usually, the award goes to a man leading an underdog organization, but Shanahan may be the single-best x’s and o’s guy in the game right now.
