Week 12 was a big week around the league and it marked the second big firing amongst NFL head coaches. Now that the dust has settled let’s take high-level view and rank every team’s shot caller.
32. Carolina Panthers Frank Reich (Last Week #31)
Having been fired after the conclusion of the Panthers stinker against the Titans, this will be Frank Reich’s last week even mentioned on the list. Fitting with the way that Carolina’s season went he is frozen in memoriam at the bottom of the rankings.
31. New York Jets Robert Saleh (Last Week #26)
It is a wonder that Robert Saleh is still employed. The Jets have completely come apart at the seams—regardless of the quarterback situation. No one deserves more blame for the Black Friday showing than Saleh and his staff, especially after that putrid Hail Mary attempt before the half.
30. Los Angeles Chargers Brandon Staley (Last Week #30)
Once again, Brandon Staley has found a way to embarrass himself on the national stage. The Chargers looked completely out of sorts on Sunday Night and the team continues to underperform despite the plethora of talent it has.

29. New England Patriots Bill Belichick (Last Week #28)
It is starting to look like Bill Belichick has shifted into tank mode. I mean, that is the only logical explanation for starting Mac Jones this week. The Patriots looked lost again, losing 10-7 to the Tommy DeVito-led Giants.
28. Washington Commanders Ron Rivera (Last Week #29)
Thanksgiving was not a happy one for Ron Rivera and the Commanders. The veteran head coach was humiliated in front of the entire world, as his team was thumped 45-10 by the Cowboys.
27. Chicago Bears Matt Eberflus (Last Week #32)
Chicago got a surprising win, albeit an ugly one, on Monday Night Football against the Vikings. Matt Eberflus’s defense actually looked pretty explosive, though that could be more of a testament to the addition of Montez Sweat rather than the head coach’s scheme.
26. Arizona Cardinals Jonathan Gannon (Last Week #23)
Arizona didn’t look good this week. In fact, the Cardinals looked completely unready to play against the Rams, as they were blown out at home. Now that Kyler Murray is back in the fold, Gannon needs to start finding new ways to enable his offensive unit.
25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Todd Bowles (Last Week #20)
Todd Bowles was thoroughly outcoached by Shane Steichen this week. He is supposed to be a defensive mastermind and yet he allowed Gardner Minshew to led the Colts to nearly 400 yards of total offense and 27 points in a game that was critical to win.
24. New York Giants Brian Daboll (Last Week #27)
He won’t be in the running for Coach of the Year again, but Brian Daboll pulled off another win with Tommy DeVito under center, which has to be worth something!
23. Tennessee Titans Mike Vrabel (Last Week #24)
Credit to Vrabel for getting the win, but when it comes against the Carolina Panthers it is going to be taken with a grain of salt. That is an unavoidable fact.
22. New Orleans Saints Dennis Allen (Last Week #19)
Dennis Allen was a huge disappointment this week. This was as close to a must-win as it gets for the Saints and they came out flat against Atlanta.
21. Cincinnati Bengals Zac Taylor (Last Week #18)
The deck is certainly stacked against Taylor and the Bengals, but we would’ve liked to see him produce a more inspired effort this week against Pittsburgh, even with Jake Browning under center.
20. Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll (Last Week #16)
It is unclear how hurt Geno Smith still is, but Pete Carroll needed to get more out of his group this week against San Francisco. The Seahawks are reeling and the veteran coach has to find a way to get the offense clicking again, otherwise a once-promising season may come to an unceremonious ending.
19. Las Vegas Raiders Antonio Pierce (Last Week #17)
The Raiders got off to a good start against the Chiefs this week, but it unraveled quickly. Antonio Pierce is going to have to make a statement next week or his interim luster may fade. A couple more losses in a row and he might fall out of contention for the full-time role in 2024.
18. Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott (Last Week #15)
The Bills played well this week, but it was obvious that there is a gap between Sean McDermott and the other premier coaches in the league a la Nick Sirianni.
17. Atlanta Falcons Arthur Smith (Last Week #25)
Arthur Smith had the Falcons playing good ball this week in a huge matchup against the Saints. He did a good job of letting his stars play and really establishing the run with Bijan Robinson.
16. Cleveland Browns Kevin Stefanski (Last Week #6)
Kevin Stefanski is in a tough spot with the insane amount of injuries the Browns have endured this year, but the head coach would be wise to focus more on establishing their running game. That will be their best chance to win games with the likes of DTR or P.J. Walker under center.
15. Minnesota Vikings Kevin O'Connell (Last Week #10)
Week 12 was not a good one for Kevin O’Connell. The Vikings completely overlooked the Bears on Monday Night Football. They couldn’t protect the football and made a couple of completely boneheaded plays that cost them the game—and might end up costing them a chance at the postseason.
14. Green Bay Packers Matt LaFleur (Last Week #21)
Matt LaFleur has earned significant props for the way that he has kept this young Packers team together and helped to turn their season around. Believe it or not, Green Bay is actually back in the Wild Card picture, which was unthinkable just a few weeks back.
13. Los Angeles Rams Sean McVay (Last Week #22)
Sean McVay put on a clinic this week in the desert, as his essentially Cooper Kupp-less Rams moved the ball with ease and blew out the Cardinals on the road.
12. Houston Texans DeMeco Ryans (Last Week #9)
The Texans may have lost, but there is no doubt that DeMeco Ryans is one of the top young coaches in the game right now. This Houston team is legit and he is a big reason why.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Pederson (Last Week #14)
Big win for Doug Pederson and the Jaguars this week against Houston. The veteran head coach put Trevor Lawrence in a great position to succeed and is finally starting to find ways to get Calvin Ridley more involved in the offense, which should bode well for them come playoff time.
10. Indianapolis Colts Shane Steichen (Last Week #12)
Shane Steichen has been one of the best stories in the league this year. Despite all of the chaos in Indy, he has the Colts sitting pretty in the AFC Wild Card race.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin (Last Week #11)
Mike Tomlin’s Steelers looked solid this week, albeit against a demoralized Bengals team. The firing of Matt Canada should bode well for him, as the team produced more than 400 yards of total offense for the first time since 2020.
8. Denver Broncos Sean Payton (Last Week #13)
Sean Payton and the Broncos have won yet another game. Denver is one of the hottest teams in the league right now, largely, because Payton has them playing phenomenal, complementary football.
7. Detroit Lions Dan Campbell (Last Week #3)
Man, that was a bummer of a game for Dan Campbell and the Lions. Campbell’s group completely overlooked the Packers on Thanksgiving and were embarrassed on the national stage.
6. Miami Dolphins Mike McDaniel (Last Week #8)
Mike McDaniel’s offense looked good this week dropping 34 points on a strong Jets defense, but we still need to see him rise to the occasion and knock off a team in the upper echelon of the NFL.
5. Dallas Cowboys Mike McCarthy (Last Week #7)
Dallas had another favorable matchup in Week 12, but to its credit, they did blow the doors off of Washington. Mike McCarthy deserves credit for what he has been able to get out of Dak Prescott this year, as the quarterback is playing some of the best football we’ve ever seen out of him.
4. Baltimore Ravens John Harbaugh (Last Week #5)
Harbaugh and the Ravens weren’t at their best on offense this week against the Chargers, but that defense looks scary good and should bode well for Baltimore come playoff time.
3. Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid (Last Week #4)
Andy Reid is one of—if not the best offensive coach in the league. Now that he is starting to find some production from the wide receivers, we may see the Chiefs offense skyrocket in the coming weeks.
2. San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan (Last Week #2)
San Francisco continued its war path this week decimating the Seahawks and further establishing their stranglehold on the NFC West. Kyle Shanahan’s offense is humming and no one will want to face the Niners come playoff time.
1. Philadelphia Eagles Nick Sirianni (Last Week #1)
Yet another huge win for Nick Sirianni and the Eagles, as they move to 9-1 after the insane performance against the Bills. Buffalo gave them everything they had, but Nick Sirianni seemed to know the perfect counter for every move!
