Week 7 was chock-filled with surprises, how about we take a gander around the league and see where all of the NFL coaches rank after a chaotic slate of games?
32. Los Angeles Chargers Brandon Staley (Last Week #26)
Brandon Staley is really dropping the ball with a talented Chargers team. His star quarterback is continuing to regress and he’s done nothing to improve the team over the past season and a half. In fact, I’d go as far as to say he may well be the reason why Herbert is regressing.
31. Washington Commanders Ron Rivera (Last Week #27)
At this point, it isn’t entirely clear what Ron Rivera’s role is on the Commanders coaching staff. The veteran head coach seems extremely disengaged on the sideline while his team has floundered in recent weeks.
30. BYE Carolina Panthers Frank Reich (Last Week #31)
With Carolina on the bye, Frank Reich got a slight bump this week, but it was only because a couple of his peers really struggled out there. His Panthers are set to host the Texans Week 8.

29. Las Vegas Raiders Josh McDaniels (Last Week #25)
Well, the winning ways have proven to be short-lived for Josh McDaniels. The mercurial coach couldn’t his offense going at all this week, as they fell to the lowly Bears.
28. Green Bay Packers Matt LaFleur (Last Week #24)
Matt LeFleur has not risen to the occasion with the Jordan Love project this year. The Packers have really struggled on the offensive side of the ball, as evidenced by their embarrassing loss to the Broncos.
27. Denver Broncos Sean Payton (Last Week #32)
Look at that! Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos finally got a second win. Unfortunately, it was only against the lowly Packers and he’s going to need to scheme up a whole lot more when they host the Chiefs next week.
26. Arizona Cardinals Jonathan Gannon (Last Week #22)
The Cardinals have really started to spiral in recent weeks and it looks like Jonathan Gannon is out of answers. At this point, he seems like he’s basically conceded to the tank.
25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Todd Bowles (Last Week #16)
Things have really taken a turn for the worse for Todd Bowles and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has the defense playing okay, but he really needs to get something out of that offense if they want to compete for the NFC South crown.
24. Chicago Bears Matt Eberflus (Last Week #29)
Matt Eberflus made a respectable five-slot jump in the rankings after Week 7, as he coached his team to a thorough victory with an undrafted rookie starting at quarterback.
23. New York Giants Brian Daboll (Last Week #28)
We’ve now seen two consecutive coaching clinics by Brian Daboll, as he is finally starting to resemble to guy we saw dominating the Giants sidelines last year during their shocking playoff run. He did an excellent job of playing to Tyrod Taylor’s strengths—and if their success continues, it will be interesting to see what he does once Daniel Jones returns from injury.
22. New England Patriots Bill Belichick (Last Week #30)
It was a big week for Bill Belichick, who knocked off the top-ranked team in the AFC East and got his 300th career one in one fell swoop.
21. BYE Tennessee Titans Mike Vrabel (Last Week #23)
After a long couple of weeks, Mike Vrabel and his Titans had a much-needed bye week. Let’s see what he has cooked up coming out of it when Tennessee hosts the Falcons next Sunday.
20. Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott (Last Week #9)
We are now looking at back-to-back embarrassing losses for a Bills team that was supposed to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Buffalo does have a number of injuries, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, but Sean McDermott has to be able to find a way to lead his team to victory against a team as bad as the Patriots.
19. New Orleans Saints Dennis Allen (Last Week #18)
Another weak showing from Dennis Allen and the Saints, as they allowed the Jaguars to march all over them at home in Week 7.
18. Los Angeles Rams Sean McVay (Last Week #6)
The Rams laid an egg this week against a Steelers team coming off a bye. The team looked out of sorts all afternoon and that rolls up to McVay.
17. BYE Cowboys Mike McCarthy (Last Week #19)
Mike McCarthy got to enjoy his bye week after that Monday Night Football win, but they will be back under the magnifying glass Week 8, hosting a Rams team that needs a win in a bad way.
16. Indianapolis Colts Shane Steichen (Last Week #17)
The Colts fought hard this week for Shane Steichen, as they have all year, in that barnburner with the Browns. Credit to Steichen for what he’s done with this team, Indy has had the deck stacked against it all year with Jonathan Taylor’s holdout and the injuries to Anthony Richardson.
15. Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll (Last Week #15)
Pete Carroll got the Seahawks back on track this week as they took care of business at home against a weak Cardinals team.
14. Detroit Lions Dan Campbell (Last Week #1)
Oh, how the mighty have fallen… Tough week for Dan Campbell and the Lions as they laid an absolute egg against the Ravens.
13. Minnesota Vikings Kevin O'Connell (Last Week #20)
It looked like it was curtains for Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings with the team near the bottom of the standings and the injury to Justin Jefferson, but O’Connell rallied the team to beat the Bears and parlayed that momentum into a huge win over the 49ers this week.
12. Miami Dolphins Mike McDaniel (Last Week #2)
Sad to say, but if the Miami Dolphins don’t start competing, let alone beating, some good teams—it is going to be hard to take them seriously. Mike McDaniel has no problem scheming ways to pummel bad teams, but he’s really struggled to rise to the occasion against better competition.
11. Atlanta Falcons Arthur Smith (Last Week #14)
Once again, Arthur Smith had his defense humming as they won a crucial matchup with the Bucs, but he’s going to need to find some answers on the offensive side of the ball, as that group continues to squander opportunities.
10. BYE Houston Texans DeMeco Ryans (Last Week #13)
DeMeco Ryans has done a great job with this young Houston team all season. It will be interesting to see what he can cook up off the bye on the road against the Panthers this week.
9. BYE Cincinnati Bengals Zac Taylor (Last Week #7)
Zac Taylor dropped a couple of spots while his team was on bye based on the other action around the league, but he’ll have a chance to make that ground back up again this week, as his team has a huge game on the road against the Niners looming.
8. San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan (Last Week #4)
Obviously, San Francisco is still one of the top teams in the league, as is Shanahan in terms of coaches, but with two consecutive upset losses, we had to drop Kyle in the rankings.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin (Last Week #21)
Once again, Mike Tomlin has found a way to get this scrappy Steelers team to rise to the occasion. Pittsburgh played great all game, knocking off the Rams in a crucial win to keep them in the playoff picture in the AFC.
6. BYE New York Jets Robert Saleh (Last Week #11)
With each passing week, the Jets season has become more impressive. Yes, they were on bye this week, but after seeing what Philly did to the Dolphins, Saleh deserves even more shine for that performance.
5. Baltimore Ravens John Harbaugh (Last Week #10)
There is no doubt that John Harbaugh has long been one of the best head coaches in the NFL, but he’s really proven it with this Ravens team. What a coaching performance this past week against the Lions, who were widely regarded as one of the top teams in the game heading into the contest.
4. Cleveland Browns Kevin Stefanski (Last Week #12)
Not only did Kevin Stefanski knock off the San Francisco 49ers, but he followed that up with a crazy win over the Colts again with his third-string quarterback, PJ Walker playing most of the afternoon.
Stefanski deserves all the credit in the world for what he’s done with this team as it endures key injuries on the offensive side of the ball.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Pederson (Last Week #8)
Jacksonville is slowly but surely rounding into form under Doug Pederson’s leadership. He had the Jags rolling offensively this week as they took care of business against the Saints.
2. Philadelphia Eagles Nick Sirianni (Last Week #5)
As badly as Nick Sirianni got outcoached by Robert Saleh last week, he himself outcoached Mike McDaniel this week, as the Eagles thumped Miami in a major “prove-it” game, firmly establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the NFL.
1. Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid (Last Week #3)
Once again, Andy Reid has found himself atop the head coach rankings thanks to another phenomenal performance from his team. During the Reid era, the Chiefs have continued to find new and exciting ways to win games.
