It has been one crazy NFL season, not just for the players, but also for the game’s head coaches. Now that Week 10 is in the books, let’s power rank the men in headsets on their performance thus far in the 2023 season.
32. New York Giants Brian Daboll (Last Week #31)
The wheels have completely come off for the NFL reigning Coach of the Year. Daboll’s Giants were humiliated by the Cowboys this week and the team appears to be halfway to mutiny.
31. Carolina Panthers Frank Reich (Last Week #29)
The Panthers looked ugly this week against the Bears on Thursday Night Football. Frank Reich has done little to help his rookie quarterback develop—and at this point he and the Panthers may be doing more to hurt Bryce Young’s development than they are to support it.
30. Chicago Bears Matt Eberflus (Last Week #26)
The Bears have issues all over their roster, but Matt Eberflus has done very little to instill hope in the fans that he is the man to coach Chicago back to glory. The team still seems disorganized and even when they win a game like they did this week—it is extremely ugly.

29. New England Patriots Bill Belichick (Last Week #23)
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The Patriots were terrible again this week and considering everything in New England rolls up to Belichick we have to drop him in the rankings.
28. BYE Los Angeles Rams Sean McVay (Last Week #28)
Sean McVay got some much-needed respite this week with the Rams on bye. His bunch will be back in action Week 11 against the Seahawks—with the stakes high, as another loss will all but end their season.
27. Atlanta Falcons Arthur Smith (Last Week #21)
Another tough week for the Falcons and the seat has to be heating up for Arthur Smith. They’ve now lost three straight games to teams with quarterbacks making their first start of the season for that team against them.
26. Green Bay Packers Matt LaFleur (Last Week #25)
Another underwhelming showing from Matt LaFleur in the post-Aaron Rodgers era. The Green Bay head coach has really struggled to make meaningful in-game adjustments all year long.
25. Washington Commanders Ron Rivera (Last Week #27)
Washington has been playing well all things considered, but it is hard to give Ron Rivera all that much credit. The Commanders veteran coach has seemingly taken a step back from the action, as he’s widely believed to be a sitting duck heading into next offseason.
24. Arizona Cardinals Jonathan Gannon (Last Week #32)
Though things haven’t looked great in recent weeks, Jonathan Gannon deserves a bit of a pass considering the situation he inherited. His Cardinals look far more competent this week once they had Kyler slotted back in at quarterback.
23. Los Angeles Chargers Brandon Staley (Last Week #24)
While the Chargers actually converted both of their 4th down attempts this week, once again, it appears that Brandon Staley really has no method to his madness.
As evidenced by his Chargers losing another big game late.
22. Tennessee Titans Mike Vrabel (Last Week #18)
Expectations were high this week for Vrabel and the Titans coming out of the mini-bye after a Thursday Night Football appearance, but a major egg was laid.
Yes, he was working with a rookie quarterback, but Levis has looked good so far—and Tennessee was held to just six points, in part because Vrabel had no counterstrike at the ready all game.
21. Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Pederson (Last Week #3)
Ouch. Tough week for Doug Pederson and the Jaguars, as they got dumped firmly into the fraud bucket, after trying to step up a tier against the Niners.
20. New York Jets Robert Saleh (Last Week #12)
At this point, some of the blame has to fall on Robert Saleh. The defense has maintained its extremely high level, but this offense is so bad that we simply can’t put him any higher on this list. Especially when you consider all of the self-inflicted wounds they suffer every week.
19. Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott (Last Week #20)
Sean McDermott had the Bills playing better football this week, but the run game is still a concern. He’s done well to keep the team together during their midseason struggles though and it will be interesting to see if they can round into form down the stretch.
18. New Orleans Saints Dennis Allen (Last Week #11)
Tough break for Dennis Allen this week losing Derek Carr in the middle of a game that he was playing good football in, but the Saints coach has been rather mediocre all season long. The offense lacks creativity—creativity that they are going to need if Carr is going to be missing an extended amount of time.
17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Todd Bowles (Last Week #30)
There are still serious question marks about Todd Bowles as a coach, particularly when it comes to his presence on the sideline and in the locker room as a leader, but he did well in getting the Bucs a pivotal win this week against the Titans.
16. Las Vegas Raiders Antonio Pierce (Last Week #22)
Back-to-back wins is an impressive way to start a head coaching career. All the credit in the world to Antoino Pierce, as he has really brought an identity and some purpose back to a Raiders team that clearly had its collective soul sucked out of it by Josh McDaniels.
That said, he’ll need to prove against a team not headquartered out of the Meadowlands to show the world he has truly arrived.
15. Denver Broncos Sean Payton (Last Week #17)
Sean Payton did a solid job during the bye week getting the Broncos prepared for a strong Bills side. We are starting to see some of Denver’s skill position players come alive in his system.
14. Cincinnati Bengals Zac Taylor (Last Week #5)
Although Zac Taylor has done a good job with the Bengals so far, this was a game he really had to win. He needs to start getting a bit more creative in finding ways to enable the rushing attack, as its inadequacy this week played a big role in Cinci dropping this one.
13. Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll (Last Week #16)
Pete Carroll was cartoonishly energetic as ever this week—and the veteran head coach had good reason to be, as his Seahawks pulled off a big win down the stretch against the Commanders.
12. Baltimore Ravens John Harbaugh (Last Week #2)
Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the game today—that is not up for debate. But when you blow a 17-3 first quarter lead, it is hard to maintain footing in the power rankings.
11. Indianapolis Colts Shane Steichen (Last Week #19)
Granted, it was against Mac Jones and a terrible Patriots team, but the fact that Shane Steichen has this Colts team sitting at 5 and 5 with Gardner Minshew at quarterback is impressive regardless.
10. BYE Miami Dolphins Mike McDaniel (Last Week #9)
Mike McDaniel got bumped a slot with his team on the bye, but his team has a favorable matchup approaching with the Raiders in Week 11.
That said, at this point, McDaniel needs to prove it against a team in the upper echelon of the league to make any substantial movement up the rankings.
9. Houston Texans DeMeco Ryans (Last Week #13)
Two big wins in a row for DeMeco Ryans and the Texans, who are now officially in the playoffs if the season ended today. He has really found something with this group.
8. Cowboys Mike McCarthy (Last Week #15)
Mike McCarthy had his Cowboys balling out again this week, though, it came against the lowly Giants. Still credit to the HC and his team for annihilating inferior competition.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin (Last Week #14)
At this point, it is getting silly how Mike Tomlin is continuing to find ways to win games despite the team’s offensive woes.
6. San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan (Last Week #10)
Confirmed, that bye week came at the best possible time for Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers. He had San Fran ready to roll, as they humiliated the Jaguars in Week 10.
5. Cleveland Browns Kevin Stefanski (Last Week #6)
Kevin Stefanski did a fantastic job rallying the Browns this week after a horrible start against a great Ravens team. If they can get any sort of consistent play out of Deshaun Watson, this is not a team that anyone would want to face in the playoffs.
4. BYE Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid (Last Week #4)
Andy Reid had a good week despite being on bye, with a couple of other AFC contenders losing. They’ll have a chance to really cement themselves as Super Bowl favorites when they square up with the Eagles on Monday Night football Week 11.
3. Minnesota Vikings Kevin O'Connell (Last Week #8)
The job that Kevin O’Connell has done with the Vikings after a 1-4 start and two of the biggest injuries a team can endure, is beyond impressive. If he can keep Josh Dobbs playing good football like he has the past two weeks—against all odds—Minnesota is a playoff team.
2. Detroit Lions Dan Campbell (Last Week #7)
Dan Campbell had the boys fired up this week as he led them to a huge victory against the Chargers. The Lions head coach also deserves credit for the gutsy 4th down call he made down the stretch to seal the game, as the media would’ve been all over him had they not converted.
1. BYE Philadelphia Eagles Nick Sirianni (Last Week #1)
The Eagles had a chance to catch their breath this week on bye, but they’ll have their work cut out for them against the Chiefs Week 11.
If he can win the chess match against Andy Reid this go around, Sirianni would really solidify himself as one of the top coaches in the game.
