The Los Angeles Rams have been named in a lawsuit after a heated altercation during a recent game led to a security guard allegedly suffering a brain bleed.
According to TMZ, 71-year-old security guard, Robert Leahey, has filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Rams, alleging that the NFL organization’s negligence resulted in him suffering “catastrophic” injuries during a violent fan brawl at SoFi Stadium during the 2022 season.
The incident took place in December 2022 during the Rams vs. Raiders “Thursday Night Football” game. A large brawl broke out between fans of both teams inside the stadium and Leahey intervened in an attempt to restore peace, but according to the lawsuit, he was pushed by other guards, causing him to fall down a set of concrete stairs.
“Leahey claims he hit his head several times while crashing down the stairs — and when he got up, he alleges someone involved in the fight threw a Modelo beer can that connected with his head … ‘causing him further injury.
Leahey says on Dec. 9, he went to a nearby hospital … “where he was tested and diagnosed with severe and catastrophic brain injuries, including a subdural hematoma with brain bleeding.”
Since the alleged assault, Leahey asserted that he has grappled with speech and vision difficulties, accompanied by persistent headaches, rendering him unable to work.
The security guard is pursuing legal action against the Rams, seeking unspecified damages for the physical and financial toll he claims to have endured as a result of that incident.
